Walk with me at Big Spring in Van Buren, Missouri

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

It's been a cold, windy and dreary day here in the Missouri Ozarks, but I woke up with the urge to go exploring and to get some fresh air. I talked @jasonrussell into going out and about to Big Spring in Van Buren, Missouri, which is about 40 miles from our hometown. As much as we wanted our daughters to go along, they decided that they would rather stay with their Grandma and Papa in their warm house while we ventured out. Can't say that I blame them!

Big Spring is one of the largest springs in Missouri AND in the entire United States. It boasts an average daily flow of 286 million gallons of water, according to The National Park Service. You can read more about the park here.

Even in the dead of winter, the spring was a stunning shade of blue, and my photos simply could not do the scenery justice. However, it was still very relaxing and peaceful taking pictures and watching the water rush out of ground. We love our Missouri state parks, so I hope you all enjoy my photos from today!

In the style of @papa-pepper, I've been trying to make a better effort to take some quick selfies when we go out to show that we were actually there and to prove that we took the photos.

Thanks for checking out today's adventure in the Missouri Ozarks and stay tuned for more!
