Food from the Tatra Mountains

Slovak cuisine uses mainly pork and lamb or venison, flour, potatoes, cabbage and dairy products.
It's important to say that all tatras food is produced "like for the woodcutter".
Food when you need to "recharge the batteries". Here are some desserts.

Růžový špic - Whipped white of egg into a really dense mousse on a pound cake base - very sweet

Kremeš - For kremeš is a typical pudding cream made from milk, puddings and egg yolks.

Phyllo pastry is often used.
I also saw this desert in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Budapest and Vienna.

The most famous dishes are halušky .
They are prepared from potatoes, brynza ( sheep cheese) and bacon.
The tradition of brynza halušky is based on the traditional lifestyle - sheep breeding and production of sheep's milk products.

Goulash / more species
Sliced meat cubes in a sauce with dumplings. As you can see dumplings can be changed to rice.

Pyrohy
Boiled dumplings called pyrohy. They can be filled with different stuffing of cabbage, cheese, fruit or meat. In Slovakia, pirohy is semicircular shaped.

Salty and sweet variant

In tatras is possible to buy traditional cheeses - I recommend smoked cheese or korbačik - cheese is produced in the form of whip. Large and small sizes are available.

Coffee Štrbské presso
If you go for a walk or you have just come from the mountains, you can taste local coffee. It's delicious. The original combination of Slovak malt, cinnamon and cardamom. You can find it in a small wooden house and maybe even in restaurants.

Tea
Slovakia is rich in all kinds of herbs. That's why there are really good tea. When I will on the other side of the planet, I will order tea from Slovakia. = ) Their effects really help me with health problems.
(Herbs are also used as filling of pillows)

Tatratea

Natural tea-based liquors containing highland herbs extracts and pure mountain water. The alcohol content of 22% -72%.
Types differ from each other by the color of the bottle.

I recommend visiting the Tatras. With the mountains there are plenty of delicacies to taste. Don't miss it.
