Visiting the Baiturrahman Mosque, which has existed since 1607

in #travel6 months ago
Hello everyone, how are you? Last week, I visited Aceh. I was in Aceh for 13 days. What do I visit, apart from working there? There is one building that must be visited when in Aceh, the Baiturrahman Mosque. I visited the mosque myself and I performed the dhuha prayer. I want to tell you about my visit to the mosque.

I want to tell you about the mosque. You know, this mosque has existed since the time of the Aceh sultanate. In fact, in 1873 it was burned by the Dutch colonialists. And, at the end of 2004, it was hit by a tsunami. The history of this mosque is very long.

At a glance, I want to tell you that the mosque in Aceh is very good. there are many very nice mosque buildings. Baiturrahman Mosque is the only mosque or building that I visit. what about the shape of this building?

This mosque has a rectangular pyramid roof. The mosque was rebuilt after experiencing many tragedies in Aceh. From the information I have gathered, this mosque was expanded in 1936. So, currently, the total area of the mosque building reaches 16,070 square meters. Very wide. If you visit Aceh, this mosque is a building you must visit.

In the beginning, I told you that this mosque existed during the era of the Aceh Sultanate. This means that this mosque has existed since 1607-1636. In the past, this mosque was founded for worship and as a center for religious education. In the past, mosques were used to facilitate the spread of Islam. As well as being a witness to the period of the Aceh sultanate.

During the Dutch colonial period, the mosque became the center of defense for the people of Aceh. and became a center for fighting the Dutch colonialists. There is a story that one of the Dutch commanders, Major General Johan Harmen Rudolf, died as a result of burning down this mosque in 1873. Six years later, this mosque began to be rebuilt.

During the rebuilding of the mosque, this mosque was made by de Bruchi who adapted the Moghul (Indian) style. This mosque is located in an open field. That is what makes the mosque so magnificent. At the front, there is a garden. Then, there are date palm trees. However, I didn't have time to photograph this date palm tree.

The first expansion was carried out in 1936. In the first expansion, two domes were built on the side of the mosque. The second expansion was carried out in 1958-1965. Then in 1992, the building added two domes and five towers. This building is predominantly white. The main room is filled with pillars.

Apart from that, the main part of the mosque is hung with 17 lightpoints. Lamps are hung in the mihrab of the mosque. and at the front of the room. That's all, my story about this place, what do you think? Are you interested in this place? Don't forget to like and share comments. See you in my next story
