today I report about my trip to Florence, Bella Italia.
When I flew to Florence in May 2017, I set up a small art exhibition in the Pallazzo dei Congressi, which is right next to the very busy train station, On the free-time i got some time to sightseeing some of the good places in Florence.
Apart from the many scooters that are common in Italy, there are also a lot of tourist busses around, so it didn't take long to take such a bus and to internalize the stations via an audio system in the bus.
As you can easily see, the bus takes you along a certain route, I think there are 3 different routes that include the whole city and all its sights. But since this would take more than a day to see everything, we decided for a route, of course the longest and most beautiful one.
Started from the main station the first stop went to Fortezza da Basso, a fortress from the 16th century, unfortunately I didn't take a photo here so I take this one from the current Wikipedia entry to the fortress:

Then we passed several museums in the middle of the city, through pedestrian precincts where we didn't want to look, because the double-decker bus was so high and wide, that we were afraid that the parked scooters would now be lit up by the bus. (see first picture)*.
Then we continued by bus to the old city wall. Centuries ago, goods from all over the world were brought to the city at this gate. There are 2 entrys to the City, but there was only one stop on this one.
Since Florence is not a flat village, we went by bus to the viewing platform Piazzale Michelangelo from Florence to get an overview of the whole city. I have to say, the impression from up here is very powerful and we had, as usual in Italy, the best weather to see everything clear.
Okay, after we decided to finish our bus trip at this vantage point to cover the next tourist blues on foot, we didn't realize that the viewing platform was already 5-6km further outside. Well, if the weather is good and you are in a good mood, things will be more pleasant.
The walking way went on and went through residential areas until we finally landed again in the good old town to admire something, among other things we walked along the ** Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore** and I have to admit that such a monumental building is really impressive from the nearby one.
At first we thought about visiting the cathedral from the inside, but when we saw that if you had to wait more than 2.5 hours - we continued our trip then.
At the Piazza Della Signoria we visited various sculptures and works by different Italian artists.
In addition to these sculptures, the square was full of artists, pickpockets and one-man shows who wore their umbrellas and sunglasses all over the body to sell them to the tourists for profit. I abstained from it and went on with the troop before someone could talk to me from the side :)
In the end, the trip to Florence was a truly impressive experience, which one would like to quickly repeat. Unfortunately, the time there was very short and I would like to visit the city Florence, Firenze again and again.

And I get the feeling that Florence is overrun with tourists like Prague is... does it feel "overrun"?

most of the time it was very full with tourists, so thats one of the reasons we walked down from the tourist platform.
A joyful trip of course I am sure you will continue to be more successful in steemit
