Secret to seeing Rome, Italy in a day

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

I lived in Rome Italy for 6 years and after a short time there I became a very good tour guide since all my friends from the States would call me before they came to take them around. I truly enjoyed it but Rome is very big and I needed a way to do this very easily. I found an amazing way to see all the sites in the shortest amount of time and less effort!!!! GOLF CARTS! Yes you may drive a Golf cart all around the center of Rome, park where you want and travel around in style like a VIP. The cost is very reasonable last I checked it was 20 euro an hour divided by 4 people that the cart takes and Boom! NO WALKING or taking the dreaded city transportation. The place to rent them is Parking Ludovisi at Via Ludovisi 60 Roma Italy 00187 https://www.google.com/maps/place/Parking+Ludovisi/@41.9058111,12.484916,16.69z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xa0ab499a33a522e6!8m2!3d41.9061658!4d12.4865681

Make sure this journey starts early around 8am so you can see everything. Ok so once you have rented your super lux golf cart your going to want to go down Via Crispi making a right at Via Sistina to the top of the Spanish Steps. There you can see paintings form all kinds of artists and grab a gelato and soak up the view. Next you will want to go down to the bottom of the Steps to Piazza di Spagnia by looking to your right where there is a small road via di S. Sebstianello that goes down to the Piazza piazza-di-spagna.jpg
This Piazza is simply amazing with amazing luxury shopping on Via dei Condotti and all the parallel streets of that street. Now that you have seen one of the most amazing sites and really soaking up the Italian culture the next stop is The Trevi Fountain. Also don't eat anything yet as I will be telling you where to eat as well. You have to be careful in Rome since its such a tourist spot many Restaurants are just awful. Well awful for my standards anyway. Here is a map with my finger pointing to the fountain. You can make your way there by any of the streets in the middle there from Piazza di Spagnia. 20170623_110846.jpg
Ok its probably around 11 and your American body clock is telling you to eat. WAIT! Lunch doesn't start till 1:30 or 2pm in Italy and many shops close during those hours of 2pm to 4pm. Not the tourist shops but local shops that have the nice things. If your dying of hunger grab a snack at the fountain. There are many over priced places to eat here if you are really that hungry. The Trevi Fountain is one of the most incredible sculptures of the world and a real surreal place. trevifountain.jpg
Every time I see this place it amazes me that someone actually carved all that. Where are these artist today? Could anybody do that now? Ok so lets get going we are headed to Piazza Venezia!!! You will want to make your way down to Via del Corso and head south, this is a busy street so be careful. If you like you can take other side streets that are less congested but if you can bare the traffic its worth it because when you pull into Piazza Venezia from Via Corso the Museum with its grandure will be right in front of you and is a site to see!87db8871aa717863aa0e9efac9658df3.jpg
You're going to be able to spend a few hours here. You can park right on the left side if your facing the Museum where the scooters park. Across the street there are Roman Ruins to see that are spectacular, its where the commerce happened for Rome back in ancient times and Caesars house is also right there next to where the scooter parking is. The Museum tour is a couple of hours to see most of it and if you start before 12 you can get out right about the time to eat. So when your done you will want to get back into the golf cart and head down Via dei Fori Imperiali passing the incredible Colosseum on the right, dont fret you will be back to see it after you eat. This road turns into Piazza del Colosseo and you want to keep on going straight onto Via Labicana, make a right on Via dei Normanni and the restaurant will be on your right. Its called Ristorante Naumachia. Here you will eat the most amazing Roman food typical of Rome and is a favorite spot for locals. 20170623_113307.jpg
Its situated at Via Celimontana 7 Roma Italy 00184 Now the famous Roman dishes will be Amatriciana, Carbonara, Fiore di Zucca and Deep Fried Artichokes!!!!! YUM!!!!! Once you have eaten and are ready to get back on your journey the next stop is the Colosseum. You will want to spend the rest of the afternoon here and in the Roman Forum which is adjacent to the Colosseum. colosseumaerialview.jpg
