Last year I traveled to Rovaniemi from Helsinki by night train which costed me about SGD230 one way just to experience its service. Still saved me some pennies though, as accommodation fare was voided.

oh yea that is definitely one way to save on the accommodation!
When i took the train from Helsinki to Mikkeli i felt abit cramped around my seats so i was afraid of sitting there for 10 whole hours to Rovaniemi. The price happened to be comparable so I went ahead with the plane option!
We opted for the sleeping compartment option haha
