Bacarra is located next to Laoag, just 10-20 minutes drive from the proper town to the Laoag downtown. Bacarreños is what the people call who live in this town and they are known for this very soprano or deep voice of everyone. With estimated 32,000 residents, Bacarra is considered as third class municipality and one of smallest land area among the municipalities.

Blue, symbolizes the incessant of peace for love, justice equality and tranquility, the purity of heart and open mind of the people of Bacarra, Ilocos Norte towards progress. It also depicts the fervent hopes and prayers of the people to reach their goals in their pursuit for economic recovery through productivity and self-reliance.

Yellow, represents the burning desire and initiative of the people to attain reconciliation through the power of love and prayer.

Brown, represents the basic race which the people take pride in the cultivation of the soil through their own sweat and blood.

Leaning Tower, depicts the strength and sturdiness of the people to withstand the challenges of life in the passage of time. It also expresses the dignity of labor.

Carabao and Plow, symbolize the basic factors of production which are of paramount importance in attaining the fondest dreams of the people to become active, viable, self-reliant and productive.

Tobacco and Garlic, represent the two major agricultural cash crops of the people thereby attaining self-reliant.

The Blue House in Bacarra. This is the Municipal Hall of the said town. Couple years ago, this building was painted white before but the mayor decided to repaint it with blue. The mini tower on the left is the imitation of the original tower of the Parish Church. In front of the hall is the plaza and a food court location that opens every fiesta of the called town.

BACARRA IS REALLY HOME OF BRIGHT MINDED KIDS

Mr. Peter John Magana, A resident of Barangay 39 Pasiocan, was the first product of the town. He landed as top 4 from the LET 2009. On Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

Miss Noralyn Sacoco, who graduated from Data Center College of the Philippines wowed the whole Philippines when she landed the top place as the 2014 BLEPT (Board of Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers) results release.

Indeed, Bacarra nourishing their own kids to be their own and continuing to make names and making every bacarreños proud of their own sons and daughters.

THE BAC-BACARRA FESTIVAL

The town of Bacarra staged the Baca-Bacarra Festival. It was started in the year 2005 as a revival and preservation of their cultural heritage. Bac-bacarra is a legendary word which refers to specie of freshwater fish abundant in the rivers of the town in the olden days where it got its name by a Spanish soldier who passed by the place.

“Bac-Bacarra” connotes to a fish caught by a fisherman hence the name of the town originated from it.
