Dubai — already home to the world’s biggest indoor theme park and on the way to opening the world’s longest zip line — is getting another jaw-dropping attraction: an underwater luxury vessel resort.

Opening in 2020, The Floating Venice will offer an “authentic Venetian experience” in the Middle East. The floating resort — that's technically classified as a boat — will have an underwater deck with accommodations as well as restaurants, bars, and shops.

Above the sea, the Italian-inspired design includes rising domes that resemble structures like the Basilica San Marco, as well as gondolas, glass-bottom (well, acrylic-bottom) pools, and 12 floating beaches.
Below, there will be underwater restaurants, bars, and a spa. And beyond the deck there will be more than 400,000 square feet of coral reef and will have an on-site coral nursery to assist in maintaining a thriving marine life in the area.
The Floating Venice will be located in Dubai’s The World islands, which guests can get to by boat, seaplane, or helicopter.

The resort, which claims to be the “first luxury underwater vessel resort,” joins the likes of Poseidon Undersea Resort, the world's first sea floor resort, in Fiji, and Atlantis The Palm, which has two underwater rooms built into the hotel, also in Dubai.
These luxury experiences add new meaning to the word “getaway.”
