Good job highlighting a lesser known part of the world for many Westerners. There are some critical shipping lines that go right through that area, and in the 1990's the US Navy ran simulations on what might be necessary to keep those lanes open & stable should hostilities break out where the world's larger superpowers became involved.
Fortunately those eventualities did not come to pass. Those people have suffered enough and are due some peace & prosperity. Hopefully.
