Street photography in one of the most scenic destinations with a perfect view of the sunset and an interesting vacation destination to consider. A Greek Aegean Island north of Santorini, known for the whitewashed buildings.
I asked one of the locals why every building was uniformly painted white and I was told it is a requirement by the community to have all the buildings painted white. According to him, every building must be repainted white at least once every year, that's why they are able to maintain the uniformity of the color. Also because it helps with the dissemination of heat!
Volcano
Some two thousand years ago this volcano erupted and buried the whole island in volcanic ash which could be visibly seen by the different colors of soil formation at historic sites.
Pots and Vases
A quick tour of one of this sites reveals that the ancients who inhabited the islands at that time were actually prepared for the eruption that reshaped the island as evidence of safety precautions taken back then such as storing of clay pots and vases under surfaces in an effort to preserve them from destruction were seen.

This also tells a story that the locals at that time were very familiar with the activity of the volcano and took precautions as they had previously done in their past, only this time the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI ) was greater than what they were prepared for.
