Only a few more months away

in #travel7 years ago

The time to pack my cold gear is coming, as I begin to hear about the upcoming contracts for this seasons Antarctic work. It looks like I will be back down to the remote region known as the Crystal Desert for quite a few months and spend some time with the adorable inhabitants that call it home.

From talking to my boss over the past few days, it appears I will be working not only as a Marine Biologist this season but I might also be contracted as an Expedition Coordinator for a period of time down in Antarctica. It is quite the offer with a lot more responsibility and also a heap more work, which I am more than happy to do. However, I am going to miss my more relaxed position of Marine Bio, as I spend most of my days simply scanning the oceans for marine mammals and having good music in my ears.

Regardless, I do get to spend more time in one of the most beautiful, untouched areas on the planet and this feeling lead to me flicking through photos I took from the previous season, which was also my first season in Antarctica. I must say even though I am currently in Colombia, which couldn't be further from the climate of Antarctica and I do plan on heading to the beach shortly - I am beyond happy to be heading back down to the south once again.

Can't wait to see your Antarctic trip photos and reports again this year. Consider using #birding and following @birdersofsteem where birders can find great content and support each other. Good birding.

Thanks!! I will definitely be doing that #birding if I get the opportunity of taking any more photos of Albatros whilst we cross the Drake Passage

Good luck.

@thomasjmitchell Wow I saw a beautiful penguin bird, with its color white, black, it looks very nice to see them, but they love to stay together, they spend so much time on the seashore, what do you think Sir??? PicsArt_06-30-06.46.00.png

Thanks! During the early summer months they move to their breeding colonies, as they need large congregations in order to successfully breed as they are quite social during these times. Other than that they are off foraging miles off shore

Good luck for your journey and your
lots of work the penguin is looking cute because of his white
fur on its belly .

Thank you! Once I am down there, which isn't till sometime in November I will be doing my best to post daily updates of what is happening down there
