In today's Wednesday walk, I will tell you about a hike that @outlinez and I did to the Rusokatstron fortress and the Ruskina Dupka cave.
We have visited the place several times over the years, most times with our cycling friends. But recently there have been quite a few changes made to the area and we wanted to go and have a closer look.
We got there by car, passing through the village Rusokastro, which was quite busy that day.
On a dirt road, we reached the section where there are built gazebos and corners for outdoor recreation and entertainment.
We headed to the top of the hill where the fort used to be and where archeological research is still going on.
It was a great surprise to see that the path that used to go through the rocks and we usually climbed with a big push with the bikes up, was now changed. There were metal ladders installed that made climbing much easier and safer.
In addition, there were large nameplates and mock-ups everywhere.

An ossuary where the bones of the medieval inhabitants of the Bulgarian town Rusokastro were laid.
The route to Ruskina dupka cave was also changed. From a black and steep path, the cave was now reached by massive stairs.
In some places, platforms were built where you can stop and admire the view.
I really like this part of the trail because the rocks are covered with uniquely beautiful mosses. It is a real pleasure to stop and watch them.
It was also full of Muscari.
And here there was a very steep section which was now much easier and safer to reach with the stairs and railing.
The cave - Ruskina hole, about which there is a legend that a dragon lived in it, which stole a girl from the village and took her to the cave. The girl's tears formed a small spring that never dries up and is believed to be healing.
