Poland. What to visit in Rzeszow. (Old trips)

in #travel4 years ago

In this post I would like to pay attention to Poland, in particular, to one of the cities in Poland not far from Ukrainian border. As I am from Ukraine it is fast easy and comfortable for me to get to Poland, so I visit this country very often and this post will not be the last one, where I mention Poland.

The nearest Polish city near the border is Przemysl, but I will tell about it another time, so the next interesting stop is Rzeszow. Rzeszow is the largest city in southeastern Poland. There are some popular universities, so there are a lot of students in the city, from Ukraine including.

The city centre is almost a pedestrian area and is full of old buildings, which are in great condition, so you can calmly walk around and enjoy nice architecture.

In the photos below you can see the central pedestrian street- 3.Maja (the 3rd of May street), which leads you directly to the castle.

Yes,yes, there is a castle in Rzeszow, despite it's rebuilt, it looks fantastic. Rzeszow Castle is one of the main landmarks of Rzeszow rebuilt between 1902-1906, located on the former grounds of the castle of the House of Lubomirski. Currently the castle houses the seat of the provincial court. That's why the entrance to the castle is almost always closed, so you can just walk around the castle.

Near the castle you can find many nice buildings, some of them you can see in the photos below.

Also, the Palace of Lubomirski is situated just behind the castle, when we were in Rzeszow last time, the Palace was on restauration and will be opened as a restaurant soon. ( I think that it can be opened now, as the last time I visisted Rzeszow was in summer of 2019)

As an European city there is a Market square with the Tawn Hall on it, in Rzeszow as well. Most of the buildings on the Square are now cafes and restaurants, where you can have a very nice dinner and enjoy the views of the Old City, especially in summer, when each restaurant has its own summer terrace.

In the previous post I told you that I'm a bit addicted to palaces and castleі, so I couldn't miss the palace of Lubomirski-Pototski, which is located in 15 minutes travel by train from Rzeszow in a small city called Lancut. I really recommend to visit this complex, there is not only the castle, but also the the horse-riding complex, the orangery and the park, which surrounds the castle.

The castle and the territory around it is really amazing, here are some more details of the castle in the photos below.

You can spend the whole day there, just walking around, visiting the exhibitions, unfortunately, we didn't visit the interiors that time, because there were some restaurations inside, so we have the reason to come back.
Also, you can have some small picnic in the park around the castle, there are a lot of magnolia trees, so it would be a great idea to come there, when flowering period of the trees is (that's around the biginning-middle of May).
