Shelter for homeless people of all religions at the Sultan Mosque in Singapore

in #travelfeed5 years ago

Homeless shelters of all races and religions will be provided at Singapore's traditional 200-year-old Sultan Mosque. This is going to be the first mosque in Singapore to provide shelter regardless of race or religion. This has been reported in the Malaysian media world of bad news.

The homeless will be welcomed on Friday (November 22) from 10am to 7pm in a clean and spacious mosque.

The mosque has all sorts of accommodations, including five new bed-sets, to accommodate the homeless. There is also a free bottled beverage system for the needy.

There is a condition, however, that all the homeless from the mosque must find a safe haven and register before using the mosque.

The place of refuge for the homeless is not in the main building of the mosque or the place of worship of the mosque. There is no opportunity for the homeless to enter the allotted portion through the main gate of the mosque. Because it can only be accessed by the side door that is fixed; So that daily prayers can be achieved safely and seamlessly.

Experts believe that homeless people will be allowed to rest in mosques as well as moral changes in their behavior, as well as reduce the risk of engaging in crime.

At present, only homeless men will be provided full support at the mosque. Due to limited space, each person can stay here for a certain amount of time until they find a safe haven.

After the homeless people register at the mosque and seek shelter, the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) will contact their government agencies or other social services. To help them find shelter elsewhere.

In an interview to the media, Muhammad Aijuddin, a social development officer at the Sultan Mosque, said the issue of homelessness in Singapore is new. The Sultan Mosque will find a permanent place for them to stay. Besides, they feel obligated to provide comfortable service for them at the mosque.
