Mistake #2: Never trust a Swiss person's judgement of difficulty when it comes to mountain hiking. They are goats capable of anything 🇨🇭

We sort of did the opposite mistake once, met some Dutch people coming down from the mountains, they were bragging on how marvelous the view was "up there". So of course we had to climb up the mountains to look for the view. We were walking and walking and walking, waiting to find the spectacular view, in the end we realized that dutch people may have different perspective than us on what is considered "spectacular view" :-)

Hahaha!!
Easily impressed just like us Australians, having no mountains of our own 😝

Very cool area, I like that it is so deserted. It must have been a fantastic adventure to hike there. Thanks also to the beautiful pictures that you brought to the steemit community.

Did you sleep there in a tent or a near house? Can imagine that it would be wonderful ot get up there in the morning, with this great view.

I loved how almost barren it looked too! Like walking through the end of the world at some points, with not even a tree in sight. It sure was beautiful.

I slept further down near the Gjendesheim cabin and ferry point, about 500m away in my tent, by a rushing river that made me feel like an Arctic explorer! 😂 I think you could camp anywhere along the hike though, as long as there is a spot just off the path of the trail 😊

I went there last summer, such a beautiful place! I only had my summer sleeping bag with me though so it good a bit chilly in the tent at night, the lake is located quite high

Oh wow @jpphotography, you must have been freezing! Being Australian, I was there in my -5 degree sleeping bag and 3 jumpers in the middle of summer 😂😂

I've had worse nights, for example on Hawaii where I was camping just with a cheap tent but without a sleeping roll or a sleeping bag on volcanic rock on an altitude of over 1000m, that was a bad sleep 😅

Oh wow that's rough!! But I'm sure it would have been worth it in such an incredible and beautiful place!

Thank you so much, @curie :)

You have some breathtaking views up there, Jess.

Well, sometimes, its better to go into something without knowing too much about hard doing that thing is gonna be. Who knows, maybe having an idea of how tough that hike will be would have discouraged you somehow...

I also think those stunning views are worth the hike, they are just amazing. What a great hiking adventure you had!

I agree, @audreybits! Not sure if I would have dared to go ahead with the hike knowing how challenging it would get!
It was definitely worth it for the views though 😊

Thank goodness you didn't miss out on enjoying such spectacular views..

You might have enjoyed a lot of your travel and also it would have been a great exercise. The mountains, as well as the river, look like some kind of painting in the background.

It sure does! Looking back at these photos, some of them almost look unreal!

What fantastic shots you got of this place even while toiling in your pjs! I think I might have been able to get up there, but never back down again. Those are some scary views. Good for you for traveling in such a fun way that climbing a mountain just comes up out of the blue.

Aw thank you, @fitnfun!
I know, climbing that bit made me terrified to think of what the way down would be like on the other side 🙈 luckily it was nowhere near as steep!

Congratulations @jessbear!

Thanks @galberto, I really did love it here, and enjoyed all the amazing views so much!

Buttt... How rewarding is that view. Amazing. Last month Norway was on my Lonely Planet calendar and with this post, Norway is ranking up quite fast on my list of countries yet to visit ;)

Oh cool, @steef-05! It really is unbelievably beautiful, and a great destination for being outdoors, hiking, and seeing amazing views! Happy to share more budget tips if you need some 😁 While it's stunning, Norway is not the best for your wallet, haha
