A color version of my original ink drawing
Starting from the pen and ink drawing
Creating pen and ink drawings is a relatively fast way to explore an idea. While I don't belabor them, I do try to achieve the feeling of grace, relationship, contrast, texture, positive and negative aspects in the final piece.
This drawing felt like it could translate into a color version. So I scanned the original art and used it as a template, redrawing all the shapes in my vector program. Once the color palette was applied, I imported it a section at a time into Photoshop. There I added soft shadows under major pieces to get more of a separation and dimension, as it is rather complicated on the eye to take in.
