in #travelfeed5 years ago

Hi everyone,

Many homeowners will be facing rats or mice in their domain over the next few months. Because the rodents seek shelter in homes, most especially in the United States during winter period or season with reference to pestworld.com.

So,here are the steps to familiarize or identify these types of rats or mice:

Roof rats
These types of rats are found in the southern part of the United States now. Formerly, they were thought to be in southeast Asian origin, they preferably nest in the upper parts of structures. Root rats spread diseases such as; typhus,jaundice,rat-bite fever, trichinosis, salmonellosis.
But these diseases can be prevented by cleaning up fruits that may have fallen from trees in the yard and make sure all the garbage must be covered tightly. They are also called black rats or ship rats and fantastic swimmers.

Deer rats or mice
These types of mice are found in United States and nest in rural areas, most especially in fence posts, tree hollows, log piles. During winter months these rats can move indoors while searching for shelter from cold weather but are not very common in residential areas. There is popular virus they carry called Hantavirus. This virus can be spread by perceiving contaminated dust particles with urine, feces or saliva of infected deer mice or rats. Deer mice have two-colored tail that are usually half brown and half white color.
