We have hickory trees on our property, but I haven't yet bothered to identify which kinds they are-- because I didn't realize there were so many varieties! I've never tried the nuts, either. We do like hickory wood for the wood stove and the smoker, though!

Hickory is good wood for sure. You should give the nuts a try sometime! Always nice to know you have another food source.
