Talisman is a mystical and dub-heavy fusion of organic tracks that blend vibrant human instruments, shamanic phrases and laid-back beats with a mellow psychedelic atmosphere of uncomplicatedness and warmth, recorded in a time before everything turned solely digital.
This album may be a marvellous discovery if you are fond of reggae, dancehall, dub and similar styles and it builds the bridge to psychedelic downtempo genres quite effortlessly.
Talisman has become a deeply cherished compilation of authentic tracks that still inspire countless downtempo and psydub artists to this day, especially considering the album is now about 15 years old and still unfolds its magic ;)
As with many other albums along these genres, Talisman is an exceptional record to play in the background during the day in order to enrich the atmosphere with a tribal spirit and pleasantly gripping melody episodes. It could also be a charming soundtrack to go on travels or to explore, in general.
Due to its age and cult status it can be quite hard to find out there, so all the better that someone on Earth has put it all on youtube for us to enjoy.
If you are looking for a slightly more handmade atmosphere in downtempo music, handplayed drums, harmonicas and offbeat chords, this album may just be your thing ;)
Please allow me to feature one of my favorite tracks on the album as a preview, Jumbo Layer's Lily Dub. It puts a smile on my face every time and the use of the vocals puts me on goosebumps-mode wherever I am.
The whole album can be found on youtube in high quality as well, if you want to go for the full experience with more depth in sound and a wider variety of acoustical environments. I think way more people usually fond of other styles would enjoy this album - if only they knew it existed ;)
If you dig the music, will you let me know what you did when you listened? It's always fascinating to me to hear how the same music is enjoyed by different people and what they utilize it for in specific (relaxation, meditation, chores, etc.)
I said way too much already, we'll try to let the music speak for itself ;)

Nice music my friend. Dhum, dhum taak! It really sounds great.
thank you for this, I really enjoyed it, I am a little under the weather today so I just laid back and floated along especially at the beginning, makes me want to dance but saving that for a day when i have more energy, but I at least could do some shoulder movements with a smile on my face xxx
Perfect <3 <3 Thanks for sharing your experience, hope you'll feel better soon. Shoulder movements are so underrated ;)
