I find that pretty upsetting. Curation is a difficult and time consuming task and people don't realize how lucky they are that some people do it at all. I also realized that a lot of people don't even answer comments on their posts which I believe is the minimum that an author can do...
well it's their loss most of the times i see them again in the hivewatchers discord complaining about downvotes :)
They haven't really understood how hive works and what is required to be successful on a social platform...
