Mexican Murals - Worsening Situation For Women

image.png

@stortebeker

Not far from where I live, in the neighborhood of San Miguel Chapultepec (the exact location is the corner of Molinos del Camo and Francisco Fagoaga just before it runs into Avenida Constityentes), there is a mural that has been up for several years. The visual image is not particularly spectacular, being rather modest in size and reserved in its range of colors.
Its message, however, is more than clear, sending a shiver down the spine if you stop and think about it. This is no abstract art, with curious symbolism, dependent on the viewer's interpretation. Instead, there is an objective fact being communicated:

The Best Things About Homeschooling

image.png

@minismallholding

Before we started homeschooling, my daughters went to school. I certainly didn't miss those early morning runs, with the stress when I began educating them at home. I also didn't miss the bickering between my girls, all the way home at pick up time. This only ever occurred when they went to school, but during the school holidays, things became peaceful and they loved each other again. I don't know if it was the stress of dealing with their classmates all day which brought this on, or annoyance of my eldest having to deal with the different maturity level of her younger sister.

Exploring Natural Dental Health | Foreword - Living in a Sea of Acid(s)

image.png

@paradigmprospect

Teeth were never really an issue in my life, they always did their job well and (compared to many other people's) it is fair to say my teeth have been rather resilient and dependable.
Recently however I have noticed a trend towards aching teeth more and more and I am having to draw my conclusions as to what is up with that.
Having postponed the watching of a promising interview for a good 2 years about holistic dental health I finally gave it a go and guess what - I learned a ton about teeth, the mechanisms responsible for a healthy mouth and how to live a lifestyle consistent with good dental health.

A Letter of Love... to Myself

image.png

@elamental

Everything in my life has been turned upside down lately, and has left me in a place where I am unsure about the people I associate with (and I mean everyone), and the life I am living. I did not think it was possible to feel so much betrayal and dishonesty in such a short period of time, and I honestly thought the worst of experiencing those type of things in my life was behind me.. but I have never been so wrong.

Replenishing our life elixir: a self-made healing mantra

image.png

@alexaventuria

On my path of improving my sense of wellness self-made mantras over the years became one very effective remedy for enhancing my mental clarity and assuaging adverse repercussions caused by the nowadays almost ubiquitous sensory overload. While it is logically the usual suspects like the news, certain music or visuals which are most unconducive to our mental well-being I noticed that even mindfully selected stimuli gradually taxed my mental capacity to some extend, especially when excessively subjecting myself to them or mixing them together in a multitasking mode, and if it's just meditative music running in the background while I am writing a post.

The Siren's Song - Rethinking the Mermaid Archetype

image.png

@artemislives

That seductive, sultry energy which threatens to drag us out so deep that we drown? Well, it has another side to it: an integrating, healing side.
The fear of mermaids is so intense, and common, that there is an official name for it: serenephobia. It's absurd really, when you pick that word apart: a phobia of being serene? A phobia of being called-bewitched by the magical voice from the deep? It's real and it's a 'thing'.

Is Ashwagandha Effective at Relieving Stress? [A review of a double-blind clinical trial]

image.png

@alchemage

What causes stress may differ from one culture to the next, but the fact is that we all experience stress in one form or another. The effects of this stress are also nearly universal with symptoms such as an increase in cortisol levels, an abnormal increase in DHEA-S levels, anxiety, and depression.¹ People have used many different herbs and pharmaceuticals throughout all of history in order to counteract the effects of stress on the human experience. One of the oldest herbs used in the healing process from the impact of stress on the body is ashwagandha (Withania somnifera). The study by Adrian L. Lopresti, et al.¹, An investigation into the stress-relieving and pharmacological actions of an ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) extract, put this botanical medicine beneath the empirical lens of scrupulous study to reveal the truth behind the claims that ashwagandha can effectively reduce stress.

The Freedom That Comes From UnSchooling!

image.png

@trucklife-family

My children are wild and my children are loud. You will know when they are happy, you will hear them singing at the top of their voices. Their happiness is so contagious. If we are out and about they will swing off trees, off lampposts and hop and skip along whilst raising their singing voice to the sky. I love to see them like this, so free and expressive.
That expressiveness takes on many forms , which is exactly how it should be. You will know when they are upset or annoyed, they can cry out loud and make a hell of a noise out of whatever they find lying around. I have to fight the urge to quieten them down, because who wants to see a child being anything but happy. I have gotten so many side glances, had so many people roll their eyes when they see my children just being themselves.

The 2010 Story of The Greens | ... hundreds educated and engaged to care for nature

image.png

@thegreens

In 2010, @thegreens was founded by a visionary grassroots Environmental Activist, @mr-greens.
@mr-greens founded @thegreens because of the improper waste management practices and illegal open dump sites that had sprouted in the communities, the absence of environmental education and clubs in schools and communities as well as because of rapid deforestation that was taking place at that time.
He first registered the organization as a club of Do Something and then a member of Clean Up the World during which he conceived his first project, Beautiful Clean Green Schools (BECLEGS).

When Life Gives You Toxic Kale: Be Warned! [Plus Recipes for Deliciously Moreish Kale Salts]

image.png

@riverflows

Despite kale having all the wonderful stuff brassicas have in pretty high abundance - it can be bad for you. Not because it's poisonous in itself, but because of the pesticides sprayed upon it. Green is not always good for you at all.This is a warning about kale for US readers - it's one of the Dirty Dozen, which are the food most sprayed with pesticides, according to the Environmental Working Group It's different here in Australia - our worse culprits are mushrooms, oranges, lettuces and apples! Even this can't be assumed - we simply do not have the wealth of data that the FDA has in the states. You just cannot be certain, unless you are buying organic.

A big thank you to @hungryhustle for creating the amazing infographic of the 8 Pillars Of TribeSteemUp and For @eco-alex for creating the tribesteemup banner and logo.
