3 Year Old Ozark Food Forest & Permaculture Gardens

@mountainjewel

Come with us as we tour the summer gardens on our Ozark Permaculture homestead. We are in our 4th summer and focus on mainly perennial agriculture with a side of seed-saving annual beauty. See how abundant the earth can be!
Gardens are beautiful this year. I focused on adding a few more flower varieties like the Taiyo sunflower, Persian carpet zinnia, calendula, multiple kinds of chamomile.. and we “took it easy” and grew a lot of potatoes, beans and other crops that don’t take a lot of tending.
In our third year many of the perennial fruit crops like boysenberries, black raspberries, goumi and goji are finally yielding sizable amounts of fruits- very happy about this! Still waiting on the fruit trees

Considering the Nature of Infinity

image.png

@artisticscreech

Infinity is not something that should be examined by the weak of mind. In a general sense, we all know what it is. That is to say, we know that it is something without end but that is a grossly simple description. When one begins to ponder it's nature, the concept and, possibly, the reality infinity can cause our most solid of logical principals to break down. Trying to reconcile our limited ability to understand the endless can become an obsession. However, coming to terms with what "forever" or "endless" really means may be valuable and capable of significantly altering the way that we experience our lives and the world that we inhabit.

Are Capitalism & Competition 'Natural'? Or Is A Lack of Compassion Being Framed As 'Normal'?

image.png

@ura-soul

So.. supporters of capitalism often claim capitalism is natural and a result of natural hierarchy that cannot be escaped. The inference is that 'nature' (which is not usually defined by them) is 'designed to be' or 'just is' a certain way that means that the 'best' results occur as a result of competition and 'winning' in that competition. Since capitalism is essentially based on competition, they say that capitalism is both 'the best' and 'most natural' economic system.
Here's the thing. In case you missed it, the people with the most money today are among those who have created the global tyranny system and fraud machine that involves the banks, military industrial war machine and so many other corrupt entities.

A Nature Inspired Life: Storytelling With Photography

image.png

@walkerland

I could write about love or the people that inspire me most, or how nature inspires me every single day but If you read my blog, you already know all of that.
Instead, I wanted to share my passion for photography and how it inspires me.
I've always used photography to capture moments. Baby feet and blue eyes, family gatherings, candid moments and of course, travel and nature. I've captured loved ones that are no longer here, and that matters to me a lot. Since moving to our homestead, I've become deeply passionate about using photography to help me tell stories about our life here on the farm.

I Was a Torture Chamber Addict [Part Two]

image.png

@riverflows

After the gushings of this post, where I fondly recollected my years addicted to Bikram's torture chamber, this post takes a darker turn into the more difficult, challenging, confronting and problematic side of this style of hot yoga. Whilst I adored the torturous side of it - the challenge of the heat, the extreme poses and the breaking down of mental barriers - in the end, I walked away from it to a different yoga that sticks with me to this day. In this post I want to go through some of the things that started making feel feel uncomfortable with the practice.

An Ingenious Way to Grow Food in your own Backyard

@gardeningchannel

Who do you trust?

image.png

@wwf

When we look at our relationships, trust seems to be an important cornerstone for health, longevity and love. At what point will people realize that the trust no longer exists and will they take steps to end the relationship as a result? Staying in relationships that don't involve trust, love, respect, compassion, empathy and honour is harmful. I've been accused of being a 'conspiracy theorist' by many, but it seems that those theories are turning out to be true and no longer theories. So let's work through some popular relationships and see if it is time to say good bye and work on building more healthy relationships for us all.

The Best Idea Ever!

image.png

@paradigmprospect

In aware moments I tend to come back to a single concept or model that is rather convenient for the ego to understand and somehow difficult to get past, even on psychedelic states - partly because it's so poignant.
And that concept is very simple:
Life is the best story ever. And it includes all other stories!
It's been rehashed countless times but I have yet to find a better notion to attempt to explain what existence is, how we as human beings are connected to it and what we are ultimately doing here.
The notion goes that the infinite oneness has concoted the ultimate (and probably only workable) conception in order for something to be going on at all. Call it a cosmic counter to eternal boredom. Call it alchemy, distilling the novel out of the completely-known.

Creating Your Path in Life

image.png

@metama

A good friend of mine is currently undertaking his residency in orthopedic surgery. As a resident, one of his responsibilities is to work with and teach the younger medical students. During a recent visit he told me of an experience he had with his students.
He was with a group of younger medical students. During their discussion the question arose "what kind of doctor do you want to be?"After mulling it over, one of the students responded "you know, I'm just not sure yet."My friend, quick with the repass as always remarked "What degree are you trying to get? An MD?"He inquired. "Do you know what that stands for? Make decisions. That's what we get paid to do".

Wonders of Whakatane - Nativism, a Destructive Form of Environmentalism

image.png

@stortebeker

Today I would like to address the controversial issue of nativism, and how this misplaced and misundersood environmentalist movement is the cause of much destruction in New Zealand (and presumably other parts of the world), while being touted as a protective practice.
The Evolution of Ecosystems
It is a given fact that all species constantly adapt to their environments, seeking out a certain edge over others, and if they do so successfully, they ultimately have lasting effect on their ecosystems. As a result, all other species have to adapt to their new conditions themselves, and thus bringing forth irreversible change, thus evolving the ecosystem in its entirety. Generally the result is a greater diversity in species, though it may also often include a transition phase of extinctions and loss of species.

My Thoughts On Environmentalism

image.png

@johnvibes

I consider myself an environmentalist, and I am pretty serious about it, but I disagree with how the idea of global warming has become the sole focus of the environmental movement, because I think that it is counterproductive in a variety of ways.
Humans are destroying the planet and making it uninhabitable for many of the earth’s creatures, including ourselves, at an alarming rate, this much is obvious and not really debatable. You only need to look at the rapidly declining number of diverse plant, animal and insect species on the planet to see that things are totally fucked.

Tree Planting Thoughtfully: A Dry Season Tree Planting How-To

image.png

@artemislives

"We're aiming to plant a million trees this coming year."
Grandiose statements like this are flung about merrily, from big corporations seeking a greener & a more profitable image, through to homesteaders and community groups bolstered by relentless optimism. I see so many tree planting ventures promoted online, all around the world, and yet ALMOST NEVER do I see tree nourishing days, tree fertilizing days, tree watering projects.... I wonder how many of those "million trees planted" actually survive to maturity.
I came to be pondering this recently, having visited our indigenous Karen Organic Frontiers project along the Thai-Burmese border in Mae Sariang. You see, they had a problem.

Healing the Inner Child and becoming your greatest version. Part 1

@tonysayers33

We all have that little boy or girl within us that needs our attention and love. The part of us that we have ignored for years. If we work with those parts we can heal trauma, work through it, and draw in better people and experiences into our lives.

What Inspires Me Most In Life - TribeSteemUp Question

@flauwy

It's Astro-Logical -- practical advice for conscious living ---> Issue #104

image.png

@enchantedspirit

Everyday Astrology
July 29, 2019
Venus in Leo
Venus has moved into Leo, leaving the quiet, compassionate, home-and-family loving expressions of Venus in Cancer behind for another year. Venus in Leo is a completely different critter -- and for the next four weeks we all get to enjoy the energy of this flamboyant, dramatic combination.
For Venus in Leo, romantic love is a big damn deal ... and making sure you get enough attention from your significant people will become a priority -- which may be easy, because everyone else is in the same mood. When Venus is in Leo people want partners they can show off, be proud of, and feel special to be in their company -- and they want their partners to be demonstrably proud of them.
