The HIVE Tour - Episode 10 - Petrovaradin @ Serbia

in #trip11 months ago

Did you like Sremski Karlovci on Episode 9? Well, I hope so cause it's over now as I head North:

The more I head North in Serbia the more I can tell the difference with the South part. The latter is poorer in its Balkan way, the former feels richer, neater, and overall good looking. Is it just the places I've been or plain truth? Locals can confirm or not but as far as I've seen they tend to agree.

As I get closer to Novi Sad Molinarijev Park catches my attention and I decide to make a stop:

I guess you agree with my "how bad can this be" just by the looks of it.
And yes, I don't regret my short break there:

This looks like two pink house making love but it's OK if you don't see it, my imagination can stretch quite far :)

Time to hop on my saddle again. The following gate, aptly named Belgrade Gate, feels like welcoming me to Novi Sad's surroundings:

And the first views I get right after passing the gate are rather promising:

You see, I am one breath away from Petrovaradin's castle and I can't wait to walk around. First I have to find a place to leave my bike though. This quest brings me to Varadin bridge:

As I enjoy the view I think of the contrast between the super calm waters of Danube and the super massive effect they have in shaping Europe's landscape and economy. No surprise, it's the largest river of central/west Europe:

Under Varadin bridge is where my bike will patiently wait for me for the Nth time in its travelling career:

Not too bad though, it's got a bunch of Hungarian bikes to talk to while I'll be away plus free view to Petrovaradin castle:

The closer I get to the fortress the more I'm looking forward to walking around:

The old buildings of the area sure have stories to tell:

Things become cutier as I get closer:

Who will say no to this stairway to heaven? Not me:

Among this green heaven you can already see the top of Petrovaradin's clock tower in the background:

I'm not even halfway but I already get a bit of view which promises for what I will see from the top:

Though I must admit I have a pretty tough dilemma - left or right?

I take the right one and looks like I've done no wrong:
DSC_0051.JPG

Not that you can go wrong up here with surroundings like this anyway:
DSC_0052.JPG

Who likes fortress corridors?
DSC_0053.JPG

A little claustrophobic? Don't worry, I'm taking you to open space right on:DSC_0054.JPG

Trust me you're only a few steps away from awesomeness:
DSC_0055.JPG

Any doubts? Watch this:

Varadin bridge with Novi Sad in the background plus my bike right in the middle (if you have the eye of an eagle). At the same spot, behind me is the local clock tower:

And now enjoy a series of shots from the whole view:

Can it get any better? Still some corridors left to make it all the way up though. Which means that, incredible as it sounds, it might get even better.
Let's see if the light at the end of the tunnel worth the effort:

It probably does isn't it? Clock tower again:

Great view again:

The famous lockers trend is here too:

But the epic view to Novi Sad was here before:
DSC_0076.JPG

Want a telescope? You've got it:
DSC_0077.JPG

Not that you can't appreciate the view without one anyway:

The local museum is no exception to the whole awesomeness:

DSC_0088.JPG

Look at this green heaven:

And how nicely the vegetation blends with the fortification:

I don't know what's in there but I think the beauty lies outdoors anyway:
DSC_0090.JPG

Cause you can see things like these:
DSC_0091.JPG

DSC_0092.JPG

DSC_0093.JPG

And... some more lockers :)
DSC_0094.JPG
(Sorry for the tilt, just had to make it fit)

If that's too much beauty for you then focus on more spooky bits like this:

Spooky, or gross? Your call :)

And if it's too many pictures already then give this 4K video a try:

Hope you liked it so far, see you on my next Serbian explorations!
