TSTDWYTKAD #0013 - Biosolids in your food

in #tstdwytkad5 years ago (edited)

It's been a while since the last episode in this series, and energy was slated to be the next topic. We'll look to get to that, especially with all the current hullabaloo around climate change and the like. But BNB decided to get a little more literal with shit today, yet still keep it somewhat related to our environment.

Depending on where one lives in the world, one may find that one's food comes grown and "fertilized" by processed human waste. Yip, yep, yup. How's that as a way to get your day started?! Out your bum-bum and right back into your tum-tum.

Biosolids are a nice euphemism masking what it really is. Biosludged is a great documentary that peeks inside the dark side of the "think green" (or brown, as the case may be) recycling loop most of us probably don't know about, and may not want to either. It literally is the scoop on the poop in your food.

While almost a year old now, BNB is throwing it out there now, as many folks are still unaware of what's lurking out there in this farm-to-table, and companion sewer-to-table feedback loop.

Here's the trailer (3m 07s) for Biosludged to whet your appetite.

It seems to be a prevalent practice in A-merry-ka of course. Certain countries like Switzerland and The Netherlands ban the practice. You'll probably need to check and see what the norm is in your own country, if you're the least bit curious about what you put in your mouth as far as food matters.

Since BNB's currently living in Canuckistan, he did a little digging on its usage here in zee North, finding a few things quickly: Biosolids Management and Disposal Practices in Canada

The key is “land application” (about 50% goes there) and they tell us about 1% of the farm land here uses it. But does one believe that? Some other insights can be found here at Canadian Water and Wastewater Association | FAQ | Biosolids

Here's a very recent Guardian piece on the topic, Biosolids: mix human waste with toxic chemicals, then spread on crops.

The full 68m 27s documentary is here below. The main part is actually only 52m, with an extra video podcast discussion at the end, with director/producer Mike Adams (aka The Health Ranger).

More information on the topic can be found here at Biosludged.News.

Mmmm, this shit got BNB all hungry now. One is reminded of that old Reese’s TV ad (1981).

That’s not Reese’s ... that’s f(a)eces! Ba ha ha ha ha. Just keeping the humor dark, folks.

Okay, Bob's done his good deed for the day, and will bask in the glory of it all.
