Thank you @ilyastarar, this is one of the most indepth guides on this topic I have seen so far. It is a bit sad that it is necessary to explain it in such detail. For example, when I started I just thought: I want to power up, so just chose the 100 power up option - not knowing that at the current steem price I was missing out a large portion of the potential rewards.
