IMDB hides public feedback data to make series about Queen of England look better.

in #tv3 years ago

Most of criticisms were regarding the actors not looking at all like the Tudors, specially Jodie Turner-Smith who played the Queen of England when compared to a portrait of the actual Queen.

Unethical statistician calculating average grades to make product look good.

I never had issue with diverse cast and progressive values in TV shows portraying a contemporary set or some set of advanced civilization. But in portrayal of a medieval(or ancient/primitive) society, it completely breaks any immersion when the people in such society is portrayed with 21st century values or with an excessive out-of-place diverse demographic.

Even within a Tolkienist fantasy set with elves, dwarfs, people, etc living together it bothers me when there is a lacking xenophobia.

My issue with this series was the fact I've seen portraits of those characters many times before since basic history classes from Elementary and Middle School, which makes the lack of resemblance destroy any chance of immersion. It is specially hard to play historical figures when there are too many images of them around.

How many people recognize the following historical character played by Albert Finney. Imagine casting Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt for this role.
