Who Is America? is a new subversive satirical mockumentary show from the comedic genius that is Sacha Baron Cohen. Baron Cohen is the writer, director and star of the show, but it also features Nathan Fielder as a writer, known for his show Nathan For You. To many, Baron Cohen is little more than a crude character comedian, known for his gross-out humour and controversial stereotypical characters, but he's also seen as a creator of a new form of character comedy blended with pseudo-realistic elements.

He's best known for his character from the late nineties that I'm sure all of you will be aware of; Ali G of Da Ali G Show. This style of character comedy comes from the British stand-up circuit at the time, with Steve Coogan (i.e. Alan Partridge) really pioneering this brand of humour. Da Ali G Show was very similar to Alan Partridge's Knowing Me, Knowing You (aha!) although it was far more improvised and less scripted than his Norfolk-bred counterpart. It was the uncomfortable feeling brought about by this cringe comedy that really shot Baron Cohen into the limelight.

From Borat to Bruno, and many others to boot, we know have a new show from this divisive person. Who Is America? features various new characters that Baron Cohen has been developing recently, including Erran Morad (an Israeli anti-terrorism expert), Dr. Nira Cain-N'Degeocello (a far-left lecturer on gender studies at Reed College) and Billy Wayne Ruddick Jr. (PhD, a far-right conspiracy theorist and self-proclaimed citizen journalist), amongst others.

The show tries to be divisive and subversive, but to both sides of the political spectrum. His characters interview congressmen, senators and others political figures from both parties to highlight the idiosyncrasies on either side. In a similar way to BrassEye, Baron Cohen manages to convince these politicians and celebrities to endorse ridiculous campaigns and charities, such as the "Sponsor a Child Soldier" programme and the Kinderguardians programme, which seeks to arm capable 3+ year olds.

No matter where on the political spectrum you find yourself, I'm sure you'll enjoy this new show. You can find it on Showtime in the US, or on Channel 4 in the UK.
