TYPHOID FEVER

Hi everyone, today i will be talking on Typhoid Fever. Hope this will help improve our Health. WHAT IS TYPHOID FEVER?
Typhoid fever is an acute illness associated with fever caused by the Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi bacteria. It can also be caused by
Salmonella paratyphi , a related bacterium that usually causes a less severe illness. The bacteria are deposited in water or food by a human carrier and are then spread to other people in the area.

Typhoid fever is contracted by drinking or eating the bacteria in contaminated food or water. People with acute illness can contaminate the surrounding water supply through stool, which contains a high concentration of the bacteria. Contamination of the water supply can, in turn, taint the food supply. The bacteria can survive for weeks in water or dried sewage.
About 3%-5% of people become carriers of the bacteria after the acute illness. Others suffer a very mild illness that goes unrecognized. These people may become long-term carriers of the bacteria -- even though they have no symptoms -- and be the source of new outbreaks of typhoid fever for many years. IMG_20180714_000055.jpg HOW IS TYPHOID FEVER DIAGNOSE? After the ingestion of contaminated food or water, the Salmonella bacteria invade the small intestine and enter the bloodstream temporarily. The bacteria are carried by white blood cells in the liver , spleen , and bone marrow, where they multiply and reenter the bloodstream. People develop symptoms, including fever, at this point. Bacteria invade the gallbladder, biliary system, and the lymphatic tissue of the bowel. Here, they multiply in high numbers. The bacteria pass into the intestinal tract and can be identified in stool samples. If a test result isn't clear, blood or urine samples will be taken to make a diagnoses. WHAT ARE SYMPTOMS OF TYPHOID FEVER?
The incubation period is usually 1-2 weeks, and the duration of the illness is about 3-4 weeks. Symptoms include:
Poor appetite
Headaches
Generalized aches and pains
Fever as high as 104 degrees Farenheit
Lethargy
Diarrhea
Chest congestion develops in many people, and
abdominal pain and discomfort are common. The fever becomes constant. Improvement occurs in the third and fourth week in those without complications. About 10% of people have recurrent symptoms after feeling better for one to two weeks. Relapses are actually more common in individuals treated with antibiotics IMG_20180714_000121.jpg IMG_20180714_000027.jpg IMG_20180713_235821.jpg
HOW IS TYPHOID FEVER TREATED? It can be treated with antibiotics which kill the Salmonella bacteria. Prior to the use of antibiotics, the fatality rate was 20%. Death occurred from overwhelming infection,
pneumonia , intestinal bleeding, or intestinal perforation. With antibiotics and supportive care, mortality has been reduced to 1%-2%. With appropriate antibiotic therapy, there is usually improvement within one to two days and recovery within seven to 10 days.
Several antibiotics are effective for the treatment of typhoid fever. Chloramphenicol was the original drug of choice for many years. Because of rare serious side effects, chloramphenicol has been replaced by other effective antibiotics. The choice of antibiotics is guided by identifying the geographic region where the infection was contracted (certain strains from South America show a significant resistance to some antibiotics.) If relapses occur, patients are retreated with antibiotics.
Those who become chronically ill (about 3%-5% of those infected), can be treated with prolonged antibiotics. Honey
Typhoid fever affects the digestive system; it causes stomach aches and digestive problems, honey helps in soothing the digestive system and relieving this pains and discomforts. It energizes the body; relieves stomach aches and hastens recovery.
Take two tablespoons of honey twice daily; in the morning and at night when going to bed.
Buttermilk
This is an effective home remedy for typhoid fever; it boosts the immune system, fights dehydration and improves the functions of the digestive system thereby preventing digestive problems.
Take 3 cups of buttermilk daily; you can add coriander leave extract to make it more effective. You can also take it with banana.
Ginger and lemon tea
This combination supplies the body with powerful nutrients to help it overcome this disease; lemons are a great source of vitamin C and this vitamin boosts the immune system. Take lots of ginger and lemon tea.
PREVENTING TYPHOID FEVER Typhoid fever can be prevent by ensuring a clean water supply, proper disposal of sewage and implementation of anti-fly measures. All drinking water should be either boiled or thoroughly purified. Milk should be pasteurized or boiled. People who handle food should be carefully screened to be sure that they are not carrying the germs of typhoid. Maintain a good hygiene and sanitary conditions
Practice hand washing
Take the typhoid vaccine
Quit eating from dirty restaurants WHAT HAPPENS IF TYPHOID FEVER IS LEFT UNTREATED?
When typhoid fever is left untreated, things could go worse, and the individual could experience things like:
Confusion
Bleeding from the intestine
Pus in the liver and spleen Typhoid fever can be dangerous but it is readily treatable. CONCLUSION. From the above illusrrate, if we keep our sorrounding clean, Wash our hands before food handling, Wash fruits before eating them,Drink clean and treated water, stop eating from street stand( roasted chicken by the way side, maize etc) stop eating in dirty places. I believe we can flee away from typhoid fever for they say that "prevention" is better than "Cure". Ensure to live safe.

Well detailed...very educative.
But next time try to indicate your source of information and photo.

Also try to rewrite those words in your own words instead of copying and pasting an article written by another. Cheetah will always detect if you do so and your post will hardly be promoted.

Thanks for that
