So as the first year is finishing with Uber, the pilot project in Montreal has been successful financially:
''Lessard says the money collected from the program totalled about $7.2 million over the course of the pilot project's first year.''
I wanted to mention this, as the usual argument is Uber is a billion dollar company blah blah blah...yes they are, but they also contribute to the economy as shown in the article..
So now there is posturing from the government regarding Uber. So now they want the drivers to comply with old taxi laws(35 hrs of training) and redo a criminal background check through the police.
Uber has stated they probably will not renew and comply with the Quebec government and therefore will be pulling out of the province.
You know, for a city that touts High tech adoption with Amazon adding a storage facility here:
''Amazon will open its first Canadian data centre in Montreal
More cloud computing companies setting up in Quebec for cheap electricity, cold climate''
and AI development coming to Montreal in the forms of Microsoft, Google and Facebook:
''Facebook follows Google, Microsoft to Montreal with new AI research lab''
But they cant even get it right when it comes to keeping a ride sharing service..they have a reputation of meddling in businesses and imposing archaic rules which stifles productivity and appears insane to me.
I just hope that Uber can put up with them and negotiate :(.

On a technical front, Uber has added a countdown timer to the five minute wait times for the which will satisfy those ADD drivers lol:
Of course business is slower, but that is due to the end of the summer, and I will continue to drive as long as I can and if it happens that I cant, my future projects will come sooner!
