Travelling all the way to the edge of Vancouver Island can feel a bit daunting for some, but when you come to Ucluelet, on the western coast of Canada, you will be welcomed by a warm community of people.

Living the island life means taking things easy. You’ll notice that life on the Pacific coast has a slower rhythm to it. You’ll notice that people take time to stop and talk, and also spend much of their time appreciating the pristine nature that is all around.

If you’re of the kind of traveler who likes to stop and smell the roses, and who enjoys the leisurely pace of nature, then you will find like-minded companions in the staff and guests of the local Ucluelet Bed & Breakfasts.

You can expect a warm welcome home when you stay at any of the B&Bs here in the quaint coastal town of Ukee, BC. There is a uniquely different atmosphere when you choose to stay at a place that can house only a small number of people, rather than the usual Ucluelet hotels. There is usually a sense of camaraderie amongst the travelers and staff, and often easy friendships are forged through a mutual appreciation for nature and its bounty.

Because of the smaller number of guests, the staff are able to take more time to share stories of some of their favourite experiences of the Ucluelet area, and give you great suggestions for some of the lesser known things to do in Ucluelet. If you’re lucky, you might find out about some of the locals’ secret spots, or the best time to catch a great meal with a side of entertainment at one of the local bars.

Of course, one of the best and most obvious reasons to choose to stay at a B&B is that breakfast is included! After a long, restful sleep, you will wake to the sweet sounds of the temperate rainforest, or the rhythmic lull of the waves reaching the shore. There’s nothing else you need to do in the morning but revel in the glory of the fresh ocean air outside the windows, and make your way to where the coffee and delicious breakfast is being served.

It doesn’t get any more stress-free than this! When the day starts peacefully, and your belly is full of delightful food first thing in the morning, you are certainly well set-up to enjoy a full day of fun on the coast.

What will you choose to do first?

Be sure to check out the local Events happening year-round - because if you’re lucky enough to be in Ucluelet during any of the fun and quirky festivals that Ucluelet boasts, then you are in for a real west coast treat!

Ukee Days is one of such festivals; a celebration of Ucluelet’s rich history and community spirit. This weekend long festival in July has live music, awesome food trucks, cool retail vendors, a fantastic local parade, the Canadian Logger Sports Championships, beer gardens, pancake breakfast, Salmon & Oyster BBQ… it’s tons of family fun.!

Are You Adventurous Enough To Go Kayaking With Whales?

Or for all of us ocean-lovers, there’s the annual Pacific Rim Whale Festival each March; celebrating the arrival of up to of 20,000 grey whales along Ucluelet’s coastline on their northbound migration from Mexico’s Baja Peninsula to Alaska’s Bering Sea. This is more than just a great time to whale watch, it’s an all-out celebration of life on the west coast, and one of Spring’s not to miss events.

Come and join us all year round for an adventure on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

Vancouver is my absolute favorite place. Went on an awesome Alaskan cruise and got to stay in Vancouver for a week before hand. I couldn't wait for the cruise to finish so I could go back to Vancouver with all the beautiful ladies...;)

Daaaaaaaamn this looks amazing man .

Canada looks truly amazing, especially the wilderness areas. And I've gone whale watching before but wasn't as fortunate as the dude in the kayak. Worth it, even if it was a terrifying moment.

I don't really wanna be in Canada (too cold) but damn I love the style of that house in the first picture!

Vancouver Island is very mild. In the winter, which last about 3 months, it rarely gets below 5 Celsius.

OMG how scary beeing in the water with those whales.
