This is Alexander Krasnoyarchev - the pilot who first dropped bombs on Syria and now bombed civilian targets in Ukraine. He will be the first Russian soldier to stand trial for war crimes.
The Prosecutor General of Ukraine has charged him with "violating the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional killing of civilians."
Major Krasnoyarchev was taken to a Ukrainian prison after Ukrainians shot down a Russian Su-34 aircraft he was controlling. After being detained, the Russian testified that while trying to escape after being catapulted from the downed plane, he killed a man who chased him with a pitchfork. Krasnoyarchev hid in a barn, where a Ukrainian farmer caught him and tragedy ensued.
Only after he was detained did the pilot appeal to his colleagues to stop attacking civilian targets. Hopefully, he will remain in prison for the rest of his life.
