We have a saying .. "The end is just the beginning..."
So today, our leader announced the last working day of one member of our team who will be leaving the company. Her resignation was already announced a month ago and this person is also somewhat vocal about her plans on leaving the company.
But most of the remaining team members are mainly concerned about the changes that will be happening around the team after she leave. She's been with the team for almost 6+ years and a senior on her position. It will surely be a roller coaster especially to those who will take over her responsibilities.
In most cases, people left behind endure different hang-up because of this circumstances. Different reactions are also expected. Positive and negative. To some it could also be a relief. And sometimes it could also be frustrating. But either way, we should always look at the brighter side of life and support them in their decision.
Just like the saying I mentioned in the beginning of this #ulog, it may be the end of her road for our team, but it also opens a new beginning for the remaining team members. As for her, she too will be having her new beginning as she start a new path of her career.
A leaving teammate, especially those with higher position, usually opens the door to career growth. In my opinion, it is a good time to explore new responsibilities, learn new things, and extend connections to different stakeholders. Although workload may seem tough and the one who will inherit it might sulk in for some time, the knowledge one can gain can be a new career milestone.
Bidding farewell to a co-workers could be bittersweet and stressful at the same time. But by taking it positively, good opportunities may open for everyone.
As a farewell to our leaving member we agreed to give her a parting gift. We chipped in small amount to buy her a gift but I suggested to create something more personalize to make it more thoughtful.
So I volunteered to create this cute caricature of her using MS Word. The money we had chipped in will then be used to buy the frame.
