ULOG #21: Quote of the Day - "The love of money is corrosive."

in #ulog6 years ago

Today (July 23, 2018) marks the 3rd State of the Nation Address of the Republic of the Philippines' President his excellency Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He stated a lot of accomplishment of his administration for the last 1 year and his future plans for the Philippines with the theme "Build, Build, Build."

There are a lot of wisdom that we can get from that SONA but the quote, "The love of money is corrosive (causing damage)." captured my attention.

It reminds me of the Word of God from 1 Timothy 6:10, "For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil." Man's love for money is leading him to harm not just himself but also other people.

God did not called us to Love money but to MANAGE it. And one way we can manage the "money" God entrusted unto us is through INVESTING.

1 Peter 3:3-4
"Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God."

INWARD INVESTMENT (1 Peter 3:3-4)
It doesn't mean that if you are clothed with Fancy clothes and hairstyle, Jewelry, Bags and any other "high net-value" things you are also "beautiful inside."

In these days of materialism people forgot what is more important than investing in our outward appearance, though it is good that we invest on these things, but it is better to invest first on what's on the inside -- "...unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God."

Inward Investment should be our priority and we can do that by:

  1. Investing Our Time
Growth in our Spirituality cannot be done in a snap of a finger, it takes time. The question is, "Do you have your quality time with God?"

  2. Investing our Effort
Spiritual Growth will undergone process, and it will take a lot of effort to continue the process of Growth in our Spirituality. The question is, "Are you willing to give effort to Grow?"

  3. Investing our Affection (a tender attachment, a feeling of liking)
Spiritual Growth requires affection to God, do you want what the Lord wants you to do? Or you prefer the opposite?

  4. Investing our Money
When was the last time you invested in your Spiritual Life? Like buying Inspirational books, attending Seminars etc.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me to Invest more on what's on the inside rather than things outside. Give me a heart Lord that is ready to opposw "materialism" rather than embracing it. May I continually Invest my Time, Effort, Affection and Money for my Spiritual Growth and my Relationship with You. I love You so much my God, in Jesus name, Amen!

Thank you for reading this post.
God bless you.
