#GRATEFULVIBES - ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE/WEEKLY THOUGHTS - 16 APR 2023 - 24 APR 2023

in #ulog3 years ago

Good morning, Hive-ians! 😊
image.png
We were worried when we lost power for a few hours during the first week of our second batch of hatchlings being placed in the incubator, but we were blessed with 8 of the 12 eggs hatching out during the past few days, so expect loads of chick pictures, like this one of a freshly hatched chick we’re calling Ducky, in my next few blog posts. 😊
image.png
Here's Ducky after a few hours of drying time. 😊
image.png
Here’s Ducky after he got his first drink in the hatchling box. 😊
image.png
These are two from the first batch that went through the incubator. We’re calling the smaller one Pansy and the bigger one is Cappuccino. 😊
image.png
Floyd (the dark one) and the rest of the first batch of hatchlings were happy to welcome the second ones, which was good, they’re one big flock now. 😊
image.png
Pansy loves to climb in our hands when we feed them. Here she is in my handsome husband’s hand. 😊

Pansy and Floyd having fun in the garden. 😊

Ducky and his newest flock mate. We’re going back and forth on what her name will be, so I can’t tell you what her name is yet, but she’s going to be beautiful. 😊

Some of the hatchlings getting comfortable for a nap. 😊
image.png
How many chicks do you see here? There are several piled together, so just wondering if you can tell how many there are, from this picture. 😊
image.png
Ducky (left), Speckle (middle) and Mocha (right) are always covered in woodchips thanks to the bigger hatchlings. 😊
image.png
Pansy coming up to check out the camera as I snapped a few pictures of the younger hatchlings. 😊
image.png
We’ve been blessed with some very tasty meals this week, like this Shepherd’s Pie, always a hit on a cold or wet day and we’ve had those all week. 😊
image.png
The always lovely Nacho stopped by for a snack and chat this week, we had a nice long visit before she had to leave. 😊
image.png
Floyd being a brave boy, checking things out. 😊
image.png
While the younger hatchlings all cuddled in the corner, getting ready for another nap. 😊
image.png
Pansy, Dot, and Rebel, (foreground to background,) always run over here everyday and clean up the sunflower seeds and food that gets trapped under the waterer when we take them out to clean/change them for fresh water. It’s fun to watch them get so excited. 😊
image.png
We seem to be doing well with our second batch of pepper plant starts. 😊
image.png
The younger hatchlings got to meet worms this week and they had a blast. 😊
image.png
Soon these bigger hatchlings will be joining our main flock, but until then, they’ll have a great time searching the garden for bugs and grubs. 😊
image.png
Some of our hatchlings are shy and others are bold, can you tell who’s shy in this shot? If you guess the two facing away from the camera, you’d be right. 😊
image.png
The rhubarb gets better and better each year. 😊
image.png
The Tulips and Bleeding Heart are looking happy again this year too. 😊
image.png
Daylilies waking up and looking good. 😊
image.png
The main flock heading over to work on the fence line garden bed with the Daylilies Tulips and rhubarb plants. 😊
image.png
The always handsome Half-Penny, coming back for the third or fourth year in a row, welcome back old friend. 😊
image.png
I made a nice crock pot of chili to feed us all weekend, yummy. 😊
image.png
Some nice homemade buns and coconut cookies to get us through the weekend. 😊
image.png
Our handsome bull Prince Lee watching us while we’re watching the hatchlings. 😊
image.png
When we took the older hatchlings outside to have some quality garden time, Pansy decided to fly up onto my handsome husband’s hat instead of down to the ground, so I had to snap a picture of her being adorable. 😊
image.png
After getting Pansy safely onto the ground she joined the rest of the flock in their search for worms and slugs. 😊
image.png
Well, that was how things have been going for us here. I hope you have all been safe and healthy and have had an amazing week! 😊 I’m grateful to God for blessing us with another week to share with you here. 😊 God bless you all. 😊 Have an awesome week everyone! 😊

Oh man! Half Penny and zillions of chick pics! This cheered me up immensely! I’ve been moping around with a cold all weekend, so all these fun photos are greatly appreciated. And 3 in the chick pile…

Welcome back lovely lady, thanks for visiting! 😊

I'm so glad this post cheered you up. I know you've not been feeling well and a good dash of cuteness always helps with that, in my opinion. You are right about there being 3 in the chick pile, you've got better eyes than me, as I was sure there was 4 when I was looking at the picture on my phone and didn't know it was only the 3 until it loaded on my computer and I could see it on the big screen. 😊

We've got the rain that you had yesterday here today, it's super windy and cold too, ugh. Oh well, it won't last and hopefully by the time it goes away we'll have gorgeous green grass growing everywhere. We love seeing the grass get greener and greener with each drop of rain, kind of makes us welcome the rainstorms. 😊

I'm not sure how old squirrels get, but we're always happy to see Half-Penny, Nacho and the other older squirrels that have been visiting us for the past few years, return. There are a lot of new little squirrels to name this year too. A few have even been brave enough to come up on the deck with us, just not into our hands or laps yet, like the older ones that know us well by now do, but eventually we'll win them over as well and that will be fun. 😊

I've almost finished my tea and today is going to be a busy one...laundry, dishes, vacuuming, a run into town to pick up a prescription and our tax paperwork. (If I can find a ride as our vehicle is dead and unusable to drive into town. If not, well, we will just have to see how much a cab would cost and try to find the funds in the budget for the trip in and back again. I think that it will be around $60.00 round trip, which is crazy to me, as the last time I took a cab anywhere it only cost me $10.00 round trip, but that was about 25 years ago and things are way more expensive these days.) Plus we have to get our tomato and a few other seedlings started after I'm done with everything else, so I guess its time to get my butt out of this chair and get started. I'll chat with you again later. 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

Tomatoes and peppers started just now here!

Nice, we started a couple of heirloom varieties that we've never grown before, Jubilee and Italian Special Red Pear, I think were their names; I'll have to verify to be positive though, and a bunch of Roma tomatoes after we did a test one to make sure they'd do well here. We also up-planted/transplanted our Ghost Pepper plant and a few other varieties of sweet peppers into bigger pots. It was a good day to plant inside as it never stopped raining. 😊

Love seeing all your beautiful homestead animals! Prince Lee is quite impressive!!!! Spring is such a wonderful time, when everything comes back to life!

Welcome back my friend, thanks for visiting! 😊

Spring is our favourite time of year, all the plants waking up and so many little babies (usually chicks for us) to enjoy. The best part of homesteading life, the animals. Prince Lee has a great personality, he's helpful and is always happy to point out when we've forgotten to reconnect the electric fence to the pulsar. Of course, there are the many different personalities that come with all the animals, critters and feathered friends that stop in to visit us. Some are very regular arrivals, but others just show up once or twice a year and make sure we remember them and for the most part, we do. We talk to them too. 😊

We are blessed in ways that can't be measured by money, which is good as we never have any of that, because we spend it on our animals. We wouldn't have it any other way, they make our day, no matter what they're doing. LOL! 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊
