One child reportedly drowned in the Citanduy River, Karanganyar Hamlet RT03 / RW04, Madura Village, Cilacap Regency, Central Java. This unfortunate event occurred on Wednesday (19/9), at around 2:00 p.m. WIB, when the victim and his partner swam across the Citanduy River which is the border of Central Java and West Java.
"Based on the information we received, the victim was identified as Aditya Firmansyah (12), the son of Su'eb, a resident of Madura RT02 / RW03 Village, Wanareja Sub-district, Cilacap," the SAR Post Coordinator Cilacap Mulwahyono said in Cilacap as quoted by reporters on Thursday (20/9).
Because it does not use a buoy and is not strong enough to withstand the swift flow of the river, the victim is washed away until it finally sinks.
"After receiving the information, we immediately dispatched a team from the Cilacap SAR Post Basarnas to the scene by bringing relief equipment in the water," he said.
Personnel from the National Search and Aid Agency (Basarnas) Cilacap SAR Post conducted a search for victims. His side has coordinated with relevant agencies and other volunteers to carry out SAR operations.
In addition to Basarnas, volunteers and the SAR potential involved in the operation included personnel from the Wanareja police station, Wanareja Koramil, Satpol PP Wanareja, RAPI Cilacap, SAR MTA, Cilacap Rescue, and BPBD Banjar City, West Java, and assisted by the surrounding community.
"Because until Wednesday (19/9) the night of the victim had not been found, the SAR operation continued this morning (20/9)," he explained.
Mulwahyono said in the second day of the SAR operation, the personnel involved were divided into three teams and each conducted a search using an inflatable boat, one of which was for the divers team.
However, diving will be carried out when the water conditions are calm because the victim is still possible to be around the scene.
