#ULOG 29: ART ACTIVITY FOR STUDENTS | watercolor decorated eggs

in #ulog6 years ago (edited)

To My Lovely Readers...

Sharing you one of our activities today in our school. Because it is Friday, we normally watch a movie (movie day). Before watching a movie we did our activity first, painting the eggs (raw eggs). Teachers agreed to have this art activity because we knew that they would have fun.

Painting with watercolors is fun. But it does not come so easily for children with sensory issues, cognitive delays or fine motor, and other disabilities. Children can enjoy creating with paint so this time we gave students raw eggs for them to paint, it's not Easter but seems like we're painting some Easter eggs.

Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.

Teachers asked the students to gather around the long table in our activity area. We then handed them the materials for the activity.

What they needed:

  • raw eggs
  • watercolor
  • brushes
  • water in the cup
  • used papers (to be covered on the table)
As for the students, they were told not to hold the eggs so tight because it would really break, we gave them raw eggs. Why did we give them raw eggs? So they would know how to control by holding it, holding might be difficult for them but to practice controlling not to hold tightly is a learning for them, for fine motor delays.

It's not really their first paint activity but you would be surprised by them because of the progression even if it's a tiny result. We assisted them from the start of the activity until the end to make sure that they followed what we wanted to let them do. It was a precise activity I would say and we thought that they really had fun.

Here are the watercolor decorated eggs, they tried painting it with different colors by not breaking them. Oh there was one egg that had a crack because one student couldn't control, he held it tightly but we didn't scold him, he was so sad and disappointed because he couldn't manage not to break it. It was okay for the student, we were trying to observe them, their behavior and tactile sensitivity.

After the activity, we went to the classroom and we prepared a movie for the students. Friday is our movie day and they are always excited to watch a movie. Today's a fun Friday!

Thank you for reading my 29th #ulog post. :)
