Yeah, I know it was the current administration at the time, but it was Pinatubo that served the eviction notice. LOL!
And no, I did not enlist in the AFP as I had originally planned as my backup in case my USN enlistment didn't pan out. I got stricken with bovine tuberculosis after drinking fresh carabao's milk in my frequent trips to a friend's farm in Pampanga.
My illness kept me out of circulation for six months, and when I recovered, I didn't feel the same again. It took about another year again to regain the muscle mass I lost when I was sick.
And the thought of military service slowly fell out of favor, due to the prospect of employment in the animation industry here, where I eventually ended up. :)
