The first thing I usually tell people when they ask “What do you do?” is to tell them that I am a tech and digital media enthusiast. I have been calling myself this for a while because I am fascinated about the use of technology to make life better for man. What does an enthusiast have to say about the 2018 edition of StartConFest? Keep reading to find out.
Hi there and welcome to my blog today. My name is Great Morgan and is a great pleasure to have you here reading this post. Today, I would be discussing briefly how I spent my week participating at the StartConFest 2018 and what the festival is all about. Even if you have no idea what the StartConFest is, as long as you remain attentive to this piece, you’ll learn a lot. Do enjoy this post and I hope you are having a great weekend?
Before I go down to the business of the day to tell how I spent my week, let’s discuss a little about me as a tech enthusiast.
In all truth, I am really fascinated about Science, Technology and Engineering because of how it has evolved and been applied over the years into various field as a driving force for innovation. I have made several posts here on steemit discussing how I feel passionate about the advancement and use of science and technology. I usually term myself as an enthusiast because I feel there is more to know about technology and I am still just surfacing the field. Science and technology are two very large fields that are most times intertwined. I wouldn’t want to down that lane.
You must have also read about when I made mention of being a “…digital media enthusiast”. Well, that’s correct. Since I knew about browsing and the internet, I have always been amazed by the possibilities that are hidden in its power. The internet is a very large space and it controls a very large portion of the activities that occur every day in the world. I have also been passionate about the technology that has risen in the digital media sphere. From websites, to blogs, to social media and so on, the key factor that usually intrigues me is how fast and rapid innovation while the these fields to make sure man is getting the best out of digital tech. Now enough of me, let’s talk StartConFest.
WHAT IS STARTCONFEST?
StartConFest Business, Technology and Creative festival is an annual gathering of industry players and leaders who are passionate about the start-up business ecosystem within Nigeria. It is usually a 5 days event that involves fun, sales, networking and learning. It is designed to foster collaboration among entrepreneurs or business enthusiasts. This festival was designed to strengthen Akwa Ibom’s reputation as the StartUp Capital of Nigeria, due to the increase in technology and entrepreneurial activities within the state. Over the years, the festival has been a source of inspiration to entrepreneurs, enthusiasts, students, corporate bodies and the general public at large.
MY ENGAGEMENT AT THE STARTCONFEST 2018
Once again, I decided to attend this year’s StartconFest due to the fact that I missed the ones that happened 3 years back. I have been a part of the Roothub for a while (the Roothub are the organizers of the festival) and I thought it would be wise to show loyalty by attending the event.
I joined the Roothub about 2 years ago when I enrolled for their graphics design class and ever since then, I have always felt like a part of this community.
I was present for the event throughout its 5 days duration. I participated in some classes and at various point handled the extra-curricular activities that were set for the evening section of the event. The evening section of the event was targeted at just fun making activities. We had games, music, dance, acting, fashion runway and many more entertaining acts to spice up the evening section.
I believe I was more active at evenings because I was always attending the event at noon and could stick to some classes since to be honest, I had already done my own personal research on some the topics some industry speakers came to talk about. Arrgh! Is this really interesting? I hope it is.
IN CONCLUSION
In conclusion, I really enjoyed myself this week at the StartConFest because it was really my first time at the StartConFest. I also enjoyed meeting other techies and business enthusiast who were there to learn about the latest technological innovations in their various fields. I attended various classes that I found helpful and I am looking forward to improving my knowledge on the little things I learnt from the event
I also liked the fact that I participated in the evening shows. They recognized my mc abilities and gave me a platform to showcase myself. I was indeed happy that I was able to connect with the youths that were available at the event during the fun and games section.
When the event was about rounding up on Friday evening, I had this little sad feeling knowing that the event was finally over. I knew from Monday, full-time work would resume and everyone would begin to carry their serious faces haha. Anyways, the organizers were finally happy that they would be relieved from the stress they’ve had to pass through.

You should be proud of yourself, for you to be given a platform to perform, you earned it. The weekend would surely come back
