6 Things I Leaned From Witnessing The Recruitment Exercise Into The Nigeria Army

in #ulog6 years ago

image sourceI was opportune to witness the recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Army in one of the Cantonment.

Here are few things I Learned

  1. They were mostly youths below the age of 30
  2. There were more than 500 participants on that particular platoon that I saw and according to reliable source, there are still other platoons on that particular camp.
  3. Recruitment exercise into the Nigerian Army is taking place across the 36 states of the federation including the FCT
  4. Not more than 150 recruits will be chosen from each state
  5. They were punished for no reason and every possible reason. I was there for few minutes and they had them plant their heads and was flogged round with a strong huge and thick Rod.
  6. Screening out starts if they don't have 5 Credits in ordinary level result.

Makes me remember a song by Adekunle Gold
"If I had known the life I was searching for is looking me right in the eyes, if I had known the life i was searching for was already my own"

But why? Why should so many youths want to join the Nigeria Army? Is it out of Patriotism or Frustration and lack of where to channel the youthful energy? What about the Boko Haram killings in Northern Nigeria? Is this really what they want to do as Life's Purpose?

COORRUPTUON IN NIGERIAN ARMY

On the last day of the recruitment excercise, The Cantonment in Ogun state disqualified all the applicants that participated in the screening exercise and then came in with 3 Coaster Buses of special candidates of which have paid them what is known to be bribe. The agonized candidates who fully participated were disqualified, the Army knows who to be chossed before, all the exercises done was just a camouflage, they already collected the sum of #300,000 (Three Hundred thousand naira) each from the special candidates that came in with the Coaster buses and disqualified the entire presivering candidates just to slot in the special candidate, which have paid off the soldiers to influence illegal activity

Then later they made an announcement, which goes thus; if you have your own #300,000 (Three hundred thousand Naira) to pay, meet the MP in their quaters so as to go to Kaduna Zaria with the others,...
What!!!
300,000
That's huge....
Whats your thought. #NigerianArmy #Youths
