RE: Ulog #5

We are a right to work state, I think. Illinois. It's interesting as unions are strong here, but his position seems to have a lot of 1099 work vs full time. Right now he works for 3 or 4 shops to make sure he always has work and luckily once he works for a company many are asking for him to come back as he does good work. Hopefully with enough time at this he will have a solid group of customers demanding him and things will be more consistent.

Audio guys hard workers? Lmao! Usually good ones dont work hard and always talk about their degree or how they were so-n-so's sound guy. Yeah being qualified, following contracts, and working hard is not even what is expected from the union much less the sales people selling the show. Production in this town is losing their work to non union companies like 3g even. Its a complete mess. Also im fairly certian Illinois is not a right to work state and Ibew does a majority of stage work not iatse but that is changing slightly.

You are correct, IL isn't a right to work state. This battle has been going on for years and had it backwards in my mind.
