Something unique was happened in Indonesia Local Election that was held in the area of Pati, Central Java. If in other regions candidates head region consists of two or more candidate pairs, but in Pati there is only one pair of candidates only. Since only one candidate pairs are registered, they are required to fight empty boxes or unnamed boxes.
"Empty boxes" are provided by the General Elections Commission (KPU) for regions with only one candidate pairs of regional heads. If voters vote more for "empty boxes", then the election should be repeated. Although only consists of one candidate only, but people tend to give their votes to the empty boxes.
Pati district only has one candidate pairs, namely candidate petahana Haryanto-Saiful Arifin. So they are required to fight the 'empty box'. But, after the vote counted, the candidate was actually defeated by the empty boxes. Furthermore, their defeat occurred in Pati which in fact densely populated districts.
Three days ago Indonesia held a silmutaneous election at Regency dan Provincial level to elect the Regent and Governor directly by the people.
