#ULOGs (021): Using Almost 9-hours for an Examination

Neuro-anatomy has been the toughest and the time consuming exam out of the ones I have been doing this semester; it was neuro-anatomy exam that we did and every one finish and started murmuring. What a tough examination!!!
The examination started by 10:00am and we finished by 6:00 pm, although the exam was grouped into 3 but still yet, I don’t think it should reach this same time.

I learnt something’s about the theory of this exam, and what I learnt is that “As a student, don’t look down on any topic in which you are been taught” and always keep note of all what your teacher or lecturer says, All I said!!!

I said so because the number 2 of the question was just mention by the lecturer and I can remember that he told us to go and read more about it, but almost everyone has forgotten, although some don’t forget but still yet they don’t take it serious (People like me).

We start the Theory immediately 10am and the theory should last for 1 hour, thank God they keep to time, we finish at the normal time. The question is just two but the fact that it is not much yet I can say 80% of student doesn’t do the two, the questions are;

  1. In a tabular form list the components and functions of the basal ganglia. And add note on the effects of the lesions of these nuclei.

  2. using an annotated diagram, describe the formation, distribution and functional correlates of the circle of Willis.

After the theory we moved into the MCQ questions and you know what, the MCQ question is 100 but the question have 5 options (A-D) and we have to pick either true or false for all those options. Therefore if we multiply the questions with the options we have 500 questions to answer. And we were given 3hours to solve the MCQ questions.

Followed by the one that took most of the time, it is the practical examination segment which we normally call stipple chase, in which we were given some part of the body to give their names and other things about them. This section really waste our time, been that we must not exceed 20 in the laboratory that will be working, the question in this section is 50 and each take question is 30 seconds. So if we were to calculate it, the first 20 students to enter will be using like 25 minutes and the total of all student offering the course both in Physiology and Anatomy departments are 300. It’s really a long work.

Below are the images of the question asked in the MCQ:
