Oh my god, pen pals! I'd forgotten they existed. I had so many of them. I remember getting an ad published in some teen magazine and like 300 people wrote to me. Writing to strangers took up my most of free time until high school when it naturally fell away.

I had loads of pen pals all over the world, too!! Ha ha, seems like such a long time ago... Back in East Germany it was my substitute for travelling :)
