Monthly Update: October

in #updatelast year

October went pretty fast. We're closing in on ending another year. October will be a good contribution to the books of 2022. I'm slowly getting rewards for taking my rest, even though I have quite been busy.

Hey... have I seen you before?

I met Blind-Spot at HiveFest, well... saw him at HiveFest, and we exchanged about 1 or 2 sentences with each other. "Hey... have I seen you before?". After reading more about him and his story on Hive, I was a bit heartbroken by the tragedies he had to endure (most of his life). At this time, I had some spare time, and I decided to invite him over to make portraits for him that would hopefully help him with his journey.

We had a blast together with good conversations. I wanted to share these photographs a bit sooner, but I am struggling a bit with writer's block and still recovering from all the wonderful moments of September and October.

I wanted to take professional portraits of @blind-spot that he could use for his resume and/or LinkedIn profile. What's better than one portrait? Well, two. So, we took two.

Time traveled pretty fast, and before we knew it, he had to go back. He was a bit late for work... which I hope didn't get him in trouble. I appreciate the time we spent together, and I hope better times lie ahead for him soon.

Boxed Moments

Building my NFT collection on Foundation became real. I've had the name reserved in my head many times, and used it on a few platforms. But I haven't made an official account or something. Boxed Moments was always meant to be a collection of my finest work, ready to ship (hence; boxed) overseas in the form of physical prints. These are photographs that contain stories and memories (hence; moments).

I've been very picky for over a decade, but I managed to mint a few photographs that resemble my best (of the best) work. Currently 4 NFTs. I will review the floor price at the end of 2022, but for now, it should be fine for cheap pick-ups.

Contest participation: CBRS's Infographic for Hive

The CBRS contest must have been the first contest on the Hive blockchain that is pretty damn serious. I love the way how professionally they represent themselves with a pinch of craziness and a healthy hype-vibe. Writing my entry post kind of reminds me back of the posts I did on the @xposed account a few years ago.

Lackofcolor is back home!

Another big change for the better is the fact that @lackofcolor finally came back home. She finished her inbound treatment and is continuing her treatment with weekly visits. She's feeling so much better than a few months ago, even though she still has her moments of struggle.

To celebrate, I made chocolate mousse, creme brulee, or both... An excuse for me to make it (for the first time), and for her to beat the sickness with devotion and stuff she just simply can't resist.

Nailing my Blockchain studies at the University of Nicosia!

And then I'm following two different courses at the University of Nicosia, Greece. Currently, I only had enough time to study a bit for Blockchain Technology and Digital Currencies. So far, I'm nailing it pretty hardcore. Don't wanna brag, but averaging with a 9.3/10.0 is pretty damn nice. I hope I can graduate Summa Cum Laude!

The motivation for me to get a paper in Blockchain technology is to be able to explain blockchain technology to other people in an easier way (so far, it's still difficult for me to explain things), and get a better understanding of it.

Also, I want to help businesses with Web3, and therefore, they need to take me seriously, and I believe a paper will help a bit with that (or eliminate some doubts perhaps). After all, Hive and Web3 are pretty much in line with each other.

Together with Marketing, Graphic Design, Motion Graphic Design, Photography, and branding, I think this is a killer combo that will prepare me and my business for Web3. Even though I'm slacking a lot right now, I'm going to sprint once I have more time on my hands. Just need to narrow things down and oversee everything. I have tons of ideas, but fail to start.

After I finished Blockchain technology and Digital Currencies, I'll be taking part in the NFTs and the Metaverse, I've followed a few online classes, but so far... it's mostly all about PFPs and Punks... yawn. So, I'm a bit disappointed, as I thought we would go more in-depth about the technical aspects of NFTs and the possibilities that it brings to the traditional world. Either way, I'm going to get at least one piece of paper!!

Publishing my Paris travel journey on Hive

Most of my blogs in October were about Paris. I've still one post to go to wrap up this incredible opportunity and have shared some awesome memories on the blockchain with you. Both @lackofcolor and me are still enjoying the time we spend there, and whenever I look at the photographs I can't stop but smile.

The architecture in Paris is just incredible. And when looking back at the photographs, I never fail to discover something new in the architecture. So many details! Unfortunately, we are a bit limited with the size of my images, so you won't be able to zoom in on all these details.

If you haven't seen my posts about Paris, but you want to see some of my photography during our stay, here is a list of posts and places that I wrote about. All of them contain a summary of my memory and a bit of history about the landmark itself.

  1. Pyramide du Louvre
  2. Arc de Triomphe
  3. The Eiffel Tower
  4. Pont Alexandre III
  5. Panthéon
  6. Sainte-Chapelle
  7. Notre-Dame de Paris
  8. Petit Palais

The Panthéon and Sainte-Chapelle are both landmarks that I haven't seen before, and I can highly recommend a visit!

Getting a bit more active on Twitter, and you should too!

In November, I've been quite active on Twitter. I start to notice a lot more people tweeting about Hive, and it is a great place to meet and find other Hiveans. The reason why I made a Twitter account was for my NFTs, but back then, photography wasn't a big thing in the space of NFTs.

Even with just 200 followers, my Tweets reached quite an audience.

I thought it was a great opportunity to share my and other people their blogs on Twitter, and together with POSH, it can be rewarding as well!

Getting a bit back into Hive Games!

There are a few games that I wanted to play on Hive. The games may not be 'beautiful', but the technical aspects of these games are king.

  1. dCrops
I haven't been playing dCrops that much, because I don't have that many NFTs to put on my farm. But every week I check on my crops and see how they're doing.

  2. dCity
dCity was one of the first games on Hive that I started playing. This game is still pretty much underrated in my opinion. I recently bought 1,000,000 SIM to stake and another 300,000 SIM to build a nice city that hopefully will give me some ROI in a year or 2-3. Let's see!

  3. Woo
The launch of Woo was pretty epic. 30,000 packs were sold out in 99 seconds. Which is just insane. I bought 100K Woo and 37 packs (that I opened after two days, so much for strong hands). I've been mining the token with my NFTs and can't wait for the game to launch. The next stop will be their land sales.

Visiting the forest! Autumn is here

I still am struggling with my feet, so visiting the forest wasn't the greatest of ideas. But, I can't skip another Autumn without going to the forest! Or did we go last year as well? Can't even remember. Oh well! I was desperate to hunt down some mushrooms to finally take a proper macro shot of a shroom. I am very pleased with the result if I may say so myself. One I would print out and frame on the wall for sure!

Check it out here.

Oh man, I did quite a lot of things in October... no wonder I have a hard time keeping up with time!
Another monthly update that's 18 days late. No worries... I promise you, November will be -much more chill- compared to the last 2-3 monthly updates! But hey, we got to keep ourselves busy in these times, right?

Thank you for reading!

Cheers,
Ruben

Elon: What did you get done this month?

Ruben: This ^^

Crazy stuff bro! You are an inspiration. Launch you NFT collection on Hive as well.

Btw, @blind-spot, can get right swipes on these pictures. 🍕

Lol! Thanks man! I have yet to figure out what to mint on Hive.
Oh yeah, he is a charming guy, very photogenic, so it was easy to photograph him!
