I think the consensus response is that I am correct about the voting power process and that I've been going about this all the wrong way.
The key is to be genuine and treat this platform like any other social media platform and it will lead to profitability.
The reality is that this is no different then, say, Twitter for example. On Twitter if I wanted to have influence, I would/try to both compose posts with interesting content (insight/entertainment/etc) and behave and in way that would attract people to want to follow me and like the content I am posting. The same holds true with SteemIt.
I must admit, when I joined the community it was to satisfy both, equally, satisfy my curiosity with the platform and profit motive. I'm quite ready to actually read the FAQ and dig into the technology / processes and recognizing their may be more to this in regards to augmenting my twitter habits (maybe replace in time... talk about disruptive technology).
The profitability motive if the primary motive it will be telling and is really not what the community is actually about. Rather surprised by that, I had made some assumptions that would be the driving force, but it seems that is secondary (or less).
No trolling either... Refreshing.
Thanks for the respectful redirect.
