Ureka.Social: Major Notifications Upgrade, Delegation Tracking & Many Fixes/Improvements

in #ureka26 days ago

Hey everyone,

It's been a while since I gave an update on the development of Ureka.Social.

Unfortunately, I had to step away for quite a while due to a surprise problem with one of my eyes - essentially there is a risk that I could go blind in that eye - so understandably, I have been researching and healing that quite intently! Thankfully, I have made good progress by fasting, so I've made some time lately to improve Ureka some more.

This is a really great update as it drastically improves the notification system inside Ureka. Previously, the notifications wre all calculated inside your browser, but this is very limited and it could only handle a small amount of recent notifications. There was no meaningful notification history. Now, though, Ureka is using the Peakd Notification System, so you now get the same quality of notifications as you do on PeakD. In fact, the system has been further customised on Ureka - so that you now also get:

  • Multiple detailed delegation notifications via a custom delegation tracking system: New/Increase/Decrease/Removed.
  • Downvote notifications
  • Power Down payout notifications
  • Financial transfer notifications
  • Reblog notifications
  • Unreblog notifications
  • Optional mention notifications (that don't trigger when urls contain your username!)

All of these can be individually disabled or enabled on the notification settings panel.

You will need to enable these via a keychain action, just as you do on other sites that support these notifications as your subscription options are written on-chain. Once enabled, they should just continue working.

Note: The Privacy, Terms and FAQ docs have been updated to reflect these new features.

I also made numerous other bug fixes and improvements, listed below - almost all known bugs are now fixed.

  • Added: Advanced realtime notifications - via custom setup of Peakd Open Notification Server
  • Added: Delegation Tracking System
  • Improved: Terms / Privacy / FAQ Documents
  • Improved: Widened main page content on larger screens
  • Fixed: User avatar incorrect alignment
  • Fixed: Negative reputations defaulting to 25
  • Fixed: Reblogs not always being tracked correctly
  • Fixed: Delegations issuance failed
  • Fixed: Currency conversion labels now update correctly on wallet popups
  • Fixed: Sitemap updated to correct domain
  • Fixed: Extensive rework of comment indenting on mobile
  • Fixed: Incorrect individual vote values when downvotes are present
  • Fixed: Editing posts did not complete in the UI
  • Fixed: Overlay BG was improperly aligned

I stil need to tackle onboarding and some other key features. Stay tuned for more updates.

In the meantime, I look forward to reading your feedback on the notification system. :)

Wishing you well,
Ura Soul

Hope Your eye heals well!

Take care of your health. I fast periodically myself, that fascinating your issue with your eye seems to have responded to it.

I'll pop by Ureka this evening, keep up the good work.

Thanks - fasting accelerates autophagy, which is a process of removing damaged cells to allow space for regeneration. It is very powerful for healing all manner of things - the absence of energy expenditure on digestion leaves more available for other processes.
Here's a recent study on the effects of fasting on eye health. ;)

How long are you fasting for? I hope you make a full recovery. I do the 15-hour flash

Thankyou! In the past I have fasted for 2 weeks and was thinking to aim for similar this time, but I learned that it might be more suitable due to my eye problem to fast for 3 days instead. So I did that. I will repeat this maybe 2 more times - every 2 weeks. Then I might consider trying intermittent fasting for a while. If that doesn't achieve my goals then I'll try a full 2+ week fast - since at that point the alternative might be a difficult to arrange and risky laser opertion!

Wow, two weeks is a long time.😱 amazing

I met a woman recently that had done 56 days! I Think that's the longest of anyone I've met. The world record is over a year, but that guy was hugely overweight and his doctors gave him minerals throughout - it was to save his life and get his weight down.
After the first 3 days the hunger tends to stop, but you really need to not move around much or have anything to do.

She wanted to compete with Jani. 😅

The most important thing right now is your health. You must take good care of yourself. The eyes are very delicate. I hope you heal soon.
