People protesting in the streets because the US Government couldnt reach a deal and is now shutdown.
Thats a major story except for one reason- In my mind, it's fake news.
Let's take a closer look at what really is shutdown:
It would be preposterous to stop the military or close prisons.
The parks are not shutdown because last time veterans were shown pushing down barricades to view memorials. No one could blame them.
The airports are open because members of Congress don't drive, especially if they had to go west of the Mississippi. Also, air transportation lobbyists wouldn't be too happy.
In other words, if the optics look bad, it's still operating.
All the US is doing is paying non essential government employees for not working as we have always reimbursed them during tbe shutdown.
Democrats, Republicans, and the media have all sold people that the government is shutdown and I'm here to say that it's just not true. It's just a ploy and so many people have bought in. Think about what a real shutdown would truly mean and this is not it.
Maybe its just me, but I think most can survive without the panda cam for a little while. Showing functional mammals in Washington DC during this? That's obviously too much for the world to handle.
Right, dude. Most of those talking about the government shutdown: they have no clue about what it actually is, and why it's being pursued. In some cases, it's actually a good thing!
