I heard that "handing over" might be their intention at first place, yet I don't know for sure. And being open source is not going to change the fact that a group of people will decide what we need to do to be able to get more.
Unfollowing of course not a problem but when you do it just because you told so, is kinda bad. And this one might seem harmless but we don't know what will be the next metric they'll add to their algorithm. Like the last one I try to explain, for now we need to be followed by witnesses to get a higher ua score. Become one if possible to gain more from ua votes. What if they say you need to put at least 3 images to your posts because it's more appealing so it will affect your ua in a better way. Or what if they say you can increase your score by mentioning steem-ua in your posts, or put a link to steem-ua website. I don't know they can implement anything they want and we know steem userbase is keen to do whatever it needs to be done for a cent.
We may feeding our next monster unintentionally.
That's the cool thing about it, the delegation can be pulled in 1 minute and the 'monster' is no more.
I appreciate concerns, but trust these guys (whilst obviously working towards making a few STEEM for themselves) are trying to improve the place. Whether that be distribution of rewards, the trending page, or whatever. I say give it a chance, and if the monster appears, the bad press will spread like wildfire and the delegations will be gone.
Unless the ROI is super-profitable for them...sorry for adding this wedge here 😉
