INTRO
The telegram app is an open source messaging application for both the mobile and desktop platforms. It facilitates a seamless and easy transfer of messages.
COMPONENTS
Telegram app has a group feature where users of the app can be added to a group and partake in discussions with respect to the groups' rules and relevance to the objective of the group.
There also is a feature in the app for a secret chat that has features like end-end encryption, self-destruct,e.t.c.
It is on these two features of the app that I give my proposal.
PROPOSAL
THE GROUP FEATURE -proposal one(1)
I would like to make a proposal for the addition of an admin feature. For the purpose of this proposal, I will call this feature -FLAG AND SUSPEND.
We have seen various scenarios where group members violate group rules by speaking in an insulting manner or posting irrelevant contents(I have for one). Such individuals may have been warned or cautioned without a significant effect. Cases like heated arguments in the group, insulting statements and all other nuisance which disorient the group will -I believe- be curbed by this feature.
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS...
When a group member makes an irrelevant post to the group, the admin has the right to flag this message. Three(3) consecutive flagging within a period of say 2 days would lead to suspension of that member(suspension could be in hours, days or weeks).
During the suspension period, the member is not allowed to send messages or participate in the groups' activities. After the said number of days, they regain full participant rights in the group.
HOW DOES A PERSON KNOW THEY HAVE BEEN FLAGGED?
A flagged user would see a red send button instead of the original color when the message box is in use(that is, they are typing) signifying they have been flagged.
The members also know a person's post have been flagged by the toast message the app already has which we see when a user joins the group or is removed or leaves the group.
Another way is by *viewing the groups' info *. Normally, when the group info is viewed it displays the group members.
In this proposal I suggest a select-option feature which contains;
a)all members,
b)flagged members, and
c)suspended members options.
When the all member's option is selected, it displays all group members and when the flagged members' option is selected, it displays flagged members, this applies to the suspended members' option as well.
THE SECRET CHAT FEATURE-proposal two(2)
I would also like to propose that the secret chat be a separate menu item in the app and that it should be passworded. Such that only the original user has access to these chats. The Secrets chat menu should contain the new secret chat submenu already present in the telegram(as a main menu).
Furthermore, an increase in the time before the self-destruct of messages could prove useful as secret messages may serve as references later.
MOCKUPS
A flagged member button color when sending messages
List of All group members(showing both suspended and flagged)
Select option to view members(either flagged, so spent or all)
Secret chain-app in-app(instead of the already existing new secret chat).
BENEFITS
The Above are my proposals and the benefits are not far fetched. The proposed group chat feature would enhance objective friendly groups.
As regards the secret feature app, it would ensure user privacy which I believe is a fundamental unit of the telegram app.
