Introduction
In the world of project management solutions there are numerous general purpose project management tools that can get the job done.
However, the best option for any project manager is to choose a tool that's purposely suited for their type of project.
Today, there are numerous tools that are tailored to specific target audiences.
Taiga is project management tool that's built for startups, agile developers, and designers.
The tool is described as a tool that aims to solve the basic problem of software usability. Designed with this sole aim, the developers claim it's beautiful to look at all day long."
This post will focus on the dashboard and the create project feature.
Post Body
Getting started with Taiga is an easy process, as compared to other some other open source project management solutions like OpenProject.
Although, OpenProject has a superior user interface in terms of responsiveness but Taiga has a better sign-up process.
Where OpenProject would require a user to register an organization initially before adding other data.
Taiga offers their prospective users a better alternative by providing social media authentication option
Although, during the second stage of registration OpenProject users are provided with the option to sign-up with their Google account whereas Taiga provides GitHub and Gitlab authentication options.
In the aspect of mobile responsiveness, I feel Taiga not adequately optimized.
While viewing the landing page on my mobile device I noticed has the page width has oveflowed beyond the screen size of the device, resulting in a case of having to scroll the page horizontally before some contents can be viewed.
I tried zooming the page in to align the contents but that also resulted in another malfunction.
I feel more attention should be paid to optimizing Taiga user interface for responsiveness.
User Dashboard Home
On the user dashboard of the application, the user can view a list of projects the user is working on unlike OpenProject where the user has to navigate to another page to view a list of projects they are involved in.
It is a good thing that this feature is easily accessible directly from the dashboard homepage this allows users to track their projects easily without having navigate to another page unnecessarily after login which is great user experience.
Apart from that, on the dashboard the user can also view a list of projects they are merely interested in and not directly involved in.
These projects are listed under the option WATCHING.
The user dashboard home design is okay but in my opinion only to some extent and again the limitations and distortions that I encountered are from the mobile view of the application.
I find that text on the page is too tiny making it hard to read.
Unlike OpenProject which has adequate text format.
The developers of Taiga should consider reworking the general design of the homepage.
Creating a project
Creating a new project on Taiga is a nice experience.
Taiga comes with pre-made project templates, each custom-built to fit in with one particular project management techniques.
When creating a new project, the user navigates from the dashboard to a page where they have to choose a project management templates that fits their project.
There are two options to choose from on the page
- Scrum
- Kanban
The two other options on the page allows the user
- Create a duplicate of an existing project
- Import projects from external platforms.
At this point I'm really impressed with the enhancements added in the first stage of project creation.
Addition of multiple project templates gives the user the option to structure their projects using different project development techniques.
That sort of user-centricity is really commendable.
If a user creates a project by choosing the SCRUM or KANBAN option, the user will be navigated to a page where they will enter the Project Name and Project Details in a form.
On the same page the user can also choose either to make the project a Public or Private project.
Just like the other pages, the text on this page also appears to be very small for the screen size.
However the project creation experience is still great.
I feel that some of the things this application lacks in terms of interface design has been covered by great user experience.
Nevertheless, the developers should try to look into better designs and mobile optimization techniques for the app.
After creating the project, the user will be navigated to a page where they can view the information they just entered on the project creation page.

Thank you for sharing information about this project, with which I was unfamiliar.
The project is cool, but I agree with you that the developers need to make some changes to the site. The landing page doesn’t look attractive at all. I hope they make the improvement ASAP.
I appreciate the effort used in putting the information together. However, the post could be better. There are many grammars, omissions, and punctuation errors. In fact, the whole texts could have a rework. To start, I suggest that you use Grammarly to check for issues in your texts. Also, if you wish, I would be happy to cite a few issues in a follow-up comment.
